What repair tools did you run? And is it only Windows updates that give you the error?

having same issue...........

each version of your AIO repair tool I used (from 1.9.2 onwards, and I've used every version since) seems to somehow corrupt the windows store app installer.  So, it downloads the apps, but doesn't install them (the dreaded 0x8007064a error).  how do i fix this WITHOUT a reinstall or a refresh?

EDIT: Now the windows store WON'T OPEN!!!!  HELP!!!!!!

Also looks like a lot of people are having this problem, but be something that is very touchy. So lets find out what it is touchy about and fix it :-)

Doesnt the event viewer give us any information to work with?

Also check the last post here

yes it's on windows 8, and i run all the repairs by default.  my country is set to the US (where I live) so no changes needed there.  now, since the windows store will NO LONGER OPEN AT ALL, how do I fix this WITHOUT a refresh/reinstall?

Did you check the event viewer to see if it lists any error for the app store?

Merge Networks Win 8?
« Reply #7 on: January 16, 2013, 08:06:21 pm »
no i did not, but i will in a sec..............
on a side note................
since you've been very helpful 2 out of 2 times with my always unique and/or complicated tech problems, let's see if u can go 3 for 3.  i try and use spotflux (vpn), but it always, no matter what i do, goes into limited access mode. so, how do i successfully merge networks in win 8 (this is the only way i see to solve this dilemma)? this is the other dilemma i'm currently having.

here's the details of the windows store error from the event log:

I havent used spotflux so I dont have an answer off the top of my head. Bridging should be the same as right clicking on the network connect and choose bridge.

But lets worry about that after I get your app store fixed and my windows repair updated with the fix.

First thing is to find any error it is giving so I know where to start.

Looks like it might have been the file permissions repair.

I found this
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-AU/w8itprogeneral/thread/49b36f36-dce4-4376-9c62-50ac54f5e037

If we find the fix for it I will get the program updated right away :-)

the owner of drive C (system drive) is "TrustedInstaller". is this good?
btw, I added "ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES" to the list of approved users for drive C (and gave it full control).  some folders (including both program files folders, and the windows directory) couldn't be accessed, though.

That's ok, reboot and test the app store and let me know.

Since it is getting access denied error we know it is a permission problem, Just have to find out where it needs the permissions :-)

OK, I am working on getting some routers added to my simple port forwarding program so I will be on for a bit longer before bed.

I am hoping I can find your fix quickly and get an update out asap :-)

Lots lol, I am searching for any and all fixes for the app store related to permissions. It is shocking how many people have trouble with the app store!

Here is the next one to try

Click Start, and then click Run.
Type comexp.msc, and then click OK. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.
To locate your computer, click Component Services, click Computers, and then click My Computer.
Right-click My Computer, click Properties, and then click the COM Security tab.
Under Access Permissions, click Edit Limits to check and, if necessary, change the Access Permissions limits on applications that determine their own permissions.

Under Launch and Activation Permissions, click Edit Limits to check and, if necessary, change the absolute limit on component launch and activation permissions.
Use Edit Default for each item to adjust Access Permissions and Launch and Activation Permissions to allow the requested operation to complete.

Not sure, havent seen it yet :-)

Here is classic shell. Goes on Every Windows 8 install I do even my own. Like I said I havent touched the tile screen since I installed it :-)
http://www.classicshell.net/

Also I have been doing a lot of reading on the information I found and there is roughly about a thousand ways to break the app store. You think MS would have tested it better. It could have been reg or file permissions. I dont use the app store so I didnt see it on my system. I will install 8 in vmware and then do 1 repair at a time until the app store breaks (If it breaks) and then at least I will know which repair did it and then I know where to find a fix.

it is 9 pm, kids are a sleep and I have my drink while I work. Might as well get 8 installing in vmware :-)
