Fix for "Error code: 0x80073712"
« on: December 21, 2021, 07:21:34 pm »
There's a potential new additional repair method for Tweaking.com - Windows Repair. "Error code: 0x80073712" appeared while attempting to install a recent cumulative update for Windows 10.
Note: Tried using the latest version of Tweaking.com - Windows Repair while in Safe Mode & running "all repairs", but the same error persisted.
Solution: Run from an elevated command prompt: " Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth ".

Thanks and noted.

I'm sure it will be of help to those who get that error.

However, I always run a sfc /scannow after that dism cmd as sometimes it reports it has found and repaired all corruption.

Yes, also ran (prior to running the Dism command) the "sfc /scannow" while in Safe Mode, which said that there were some corrupted files found, but repairing them was (for unknown reasons) disabled. Not sure if an elevated command prompt would have solved that issue, or not.

In Safe Mode the Command Prompt is in elevated mode but to be sure, go Start -type cmd and riight click on it and select Run as administrator.

Which version of Windows are you using ?

Was on Win 10 version 21H2, build 19044.12xx dated from 9/2021. After running the cumulative update: build 19044.1415.

Run the sfc /scannow cmd again as you've run the dism /restorehealth cmd.

This time it should report that it has been able to repair all corruption.

The DISM command apparently resolved the corrupted file issue. No corruption was found after running sfc /scannow for a 2nd time.
