What told you that your SATA Controller driver needed updating ?

Does your computer have Dell Driver Diagnostics installed ?

You could try updating it in Device Manager by right clicking on it and selecting Update Software - Search online...

Well that sounds like a result.

Did you use you restore points to get back in after the BSOD ?

That's great news.

That means that Reliability history will have recorded which drivers were downloaded and installed.

I haven't been able to find anything constructive on that except a number of people have reported that in Reliability history after monthly updates but without any adverse effect.

To see if anything else was responsible for the BSOD, download Blue Screen View which can read your mini dump files and ID the driver concerned.

Use the second download link at the bottom of this article - https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

Did you have an antivirus program installed when sfc /scannow reported problems and when did you last run a sfc /scannow ?

I was just trying to figure out why it was snagging Windows Defender files.

Can you run another sfc /scannow ?

I'll be shoving off in about 15mins to sort out my evening meal and then I'll be watching the telly for a couple of hours, providing I don't doze off - I'm of that age :)

Can you copy & paste this cmd to the cmd prompt and then attach what the CBS icon log reports to your post.

I'll have to go shortly but will have a look at it later, but in the meantime, open a Command Prompt (Admin) and enter -

dism /online/cleanup-image /restorehealth and then see what a sfc /scannow reports.

I don't understand why you are getting this corruption after a clean install.

That's strange - it normally executes as I have that icon saved on my desktop.

I'll try it later to see if 1903 is the cause.

Can you attach the full log then - I'm off now.

It took me ages to work my way through that.

Have you downloaded all of the Windows Updates since the reinstall ?

Mine is fully up to date and shows as 1903 (OS Build 18362.295)

You can find what you have by going Start - type winver and press enter when it comes up.
