Are you trying to restore using the restore point option or the registry back up option ?

Boot up into Safe Mode with or without Networking, open the repair program and click on Backup Tools.

Click on Restore under Registry Backup - Registry Restore tab then use the dropdown to select the date of the back up then click on Restore Now.

If the Security Center still fails to start then follow the steps in this article - http://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-security-center-service-cant-be-started

Which version of Vista are you using and why did you run the repair program - what problems were you having ?

EDIT - I noticed you had replied while I was writing mine - use the Registry Restore Option as I've described.

Ok i can restore my back up now.  Thanks a lot. Windows défender doesnt start But the sécurity Center is ok for firewall and anti virus. I launched malwarebytes and report no problem. So must i fix Windows défender?

What antivirus program are you using as they have been known to disable Windows Defender in Win 7 - I've never used Vista.

AVG. I can fix my problem by put 0 in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\POLICIES\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS DEFENDER\DisableAntiSpyware. But when i reboot it take the value 1. So  you  are right, something force it at starting. Maybe AVG or  something else.

I'm not sure if you get that with iTunes or it's a separate application, but I doubt it has anything to do with blocking Windows Defender.

However, to eliminate it, go Start - type services.msc and press enter then look to see if it's listed.

If it is, check its status - does it show as Started and Auto or Started and Auto (Delayed) - or just Manual ?

If it's either of the first two, right click on it and select Properties then use the dropdown to change it to Disabled.

Click on Stop - Apply - OK

Scroll down to Windows Defender and check its status.

In my Win 7 it just shows as Manual but I also have Norton Security installed which may have disabled or turned it off.

Click on File/Exit then reboot to see if WD has started or can be started.

My money though would be on AVG.

This article says that from AVG 2011 Windows Defender isn't needed - http://www.bestyoucanget.com/avgdefenderinstall

Disable AVG for 10 - 15mins then reboot and try WD https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=How-to-disable-AVG&supportType=home

If it then starts, enable AVG.

Check to see if WD remains on and then reboot and check it again.
