Unable to download the file. Trojan detected
« on: December 01, 2016, 09:38:43 pm »
Hi,

I juz tired to download the latest version and the firewall is blocking it:
Gateway Anti-Virus Alert
This request is blocked by the SonicWALL Gateway Anti-Virus Service. Name: (Cloud Id: 20488351) Dropper.GEN (Trojan) blocked.

Is a trojan embeded in this Version 3.9.17 (11/18/2016) ?

If you've tried to download it from Tweaking.com's servers http://www.tweaking.com/files/setups/tweaking.com_windows_repair_aio_setup.exe  then I would think the trojan alert is a false positive. I have downloaded that version with no warnings from either Avast nor Malwarebytes.

I had to reinstall WR and Norton Security snagged something which prevented the download, so considering it a False Positive I installed it in Safe Mode with Networking, but on the reboot to normal mode, Norton popped up to report it had removed this which killed the WR .exe so that the desktop icon wouldn't work.

As that only happened on one laptop with Norton Security installed, for me that confirmed it as a FP.

I contacted Symantec to have it white listed so it ignored WR.

As you have also experienced a problem downloading, I'll pass this on.

I've just tried the download again on this laptop where it isn't whitelisted and Norton has pronounced it as safe.

Virustotal also gives it a clean bill of health: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/81675b391f0660ec0b691aa85fbf9510f34f1bf8dbe7c2e07d1141af9306f370/analysis/1480677783/

Contact SonicWall and report it to them as a false positive.

False positives are overrunning the world .

99% of the time if you see "GEN (Trojan)"  it's a false positive. This simply means that the AV company does know what it is.  Anytime a programmer makes a significant change to a file it can throw off a false positive because of the change.. Even if you are whitelisted.  There is no way to submit programs prior - you have to release. See who makes a mistake. Write them and hope they correct their error in a timely fashion.
