Internet Explorer help please
« on: April 03, 2016, 01:52:50 am »
HI,

I am using win 7 with IE11. I cannot open links/hyperlinks on certain web pages. I can open these in Chrome and on another PC. When I right click the link they can open in a new window but not in the same window. I have tried a reset of IE and also the Microsoft fixit and checked the default program status but no joy. This is on a different PC to my previous queries.

Any suggestions guys.

Its a car insurance comparison website

https://www.moneysupermarket.com/car-insurance/

When I log in to my account the links to get quotes do not work in the same window but I can open by right clicking and opening in a new window or using chrome.IE tries to open the link as the page flashes but then nothing happens. I can open the link on another laptop so I know its not the webpage.

you can help.

It worked fine for me in IE 11 when I clicked on the New Driver link by opening in the same window - both with ActiceX on and off.

Do you have to log in to get actual quotes ?

See how it performs when you run IE without add-ons.

Go Start type iexplore -extoff and press enter then hit the home page icon to browse.

What's your Flash Player version like on this machine ?

Thanks for your time & efforts.

Yes I need to log in and then get the quotes. As I said all works fine on my laptop but not this pc.
Have tried with no add ins but still have the same problem it tries to open the link but then nothing.
I have downloaded the latest flash player see cant be the issue.

Any further thoughts.

I may have discovered what is causing the issue but cant find a solution.

The IE 11 version on my PC has CO at the end which means its a modified Corporate version. Dont know why that is or how to fix the bug in it.

Are you using a corporate version of Windows ?

I'm not sure if this will work but go into Programs and Features by going Start - type appwiz.cpl and press enter, then Turn Windows features on or off - uncheck the box for IE 11 and then see if IE 11 will reinstall.
