EMET and corruptions in Microsoft Office

Since a long time I have EMET 5.2 installed upon the recommendation of an IT-person, but it interferes sometimes with Word. The other day upon opening a file it gave this popup (see attachment) and shut Word down. Word thankfully always repairs itself and the files I'm working on but this time I got 3 shutdowns in a row on opening this file (which I use daily and have no problems with on other days) and Word at one point lost all my settings. On re-opening again the settings were back and everything seemed alright.

But then in my Outlook e-mail program I lost the standard font Arial 10. I had to change it back via Extra > Options. So that's alright again but I see that I lost the Standard Font in the Start Menu under Styles in Word. For those who have Word 2007: the first Standard Font is called Standard. The second one No Spacing (might be a different word, I'm translating). I can see the Standard Font in Outlook though! (These settings are the same as the programs are connected in the Microsoft Office program, for those who don't know.) In Word the first is the No Spacing.

I'll try a reboot and see if Word will now get the Standard Font back. No, too bad.

Is there such a thing as a repair program for Office or Word?

And can I uninstall this EMET? It seems to do more harm than good.

When you right click on any MS program in Programs and Features you will get the option to Repair - sometimes you have to click on Change to access that, but it will be in there for you to repair the program.

I'm not sure about the settings but any program that you can uninstall can be gotten rid of and I don't use EMET.

Hi, If you allow programs to mingle with word, then word lost its format and will take the format of the program you are using. I do not know about emet, but even kutools, said to be doing nothing more than it says, at times pops up and close the word. Likewise, the other add on , other than microsoft would change the word program defaults, font, paragraph etc.
                     It is better to restore the word to its default settings. You could go the word options, and in the add in tab, you will find the programs that are enabled to access word documents defaults. Just disable them there itself and try to use the word. This is one recommendation.
                     Second, if the start items contain your word, and if it goes to some target in word settings to change, then it is better to delete those programs.
                        for eg. otherthan adobe reader, if you download any third party reader, it will take some form of com add in and will give its settings to the word default format.
                         If you want to restore word to its default, pl do this
UPdate; you should go to the

    Choose the Run option from the Start menu. This displays the Run dialog box.
    In the Open box enter the name regedit.
    Click on OK. This starts the Regedit program.
    If you are using Word 2007, select the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Office/12.0/Word key.
    If you are using Word 2010, select the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Office/14.0/Word key.
    If you are using Word 2013, select the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Office/15.0/Word key.
    Press the Delete key. You are asked if you want to really delete they key.
    Click on Yes. The selected key is deleted.
    Close the Registry Editor.
    Restart Word. Word has been reset to default settings.
   Hope my solution would work for this problem
Update: you should delete the word mentioned as folder . It will recreate itself. First, you have to close the word application before doing this. It will restore to default settings.

Thank you, jraju, for such an elaborate explanation. Really! I can return here whenever I need to.

The good news is that the Standard Font in Styles simply returned today. Apparently it needed a restart to pick up on the settings I restored in Outlook.

The one thing I still would like some more reactions to is whether I should get rid of EMET. This was so highly recommended everywhere a few years back for loopholes in the Microsoft software. Do you guys have it installed?
