Stuck in scanning and repair
« on: January 15, 2016, 12:28:33 pm »
I am stuckon the third step  in scanning and repair on my c drive. I can't get out of it. It has been stuck at 11% for 5 hours. I tried to shut down but it just keeps taking me back. What can I do?

first open taskmgr see if you see any cpu usage with repair_windows.exe if you don't see it moving then you can go ahead and click stop repairs if the grey cmd prompt is open click on the corner and click the x. Now what I need to ask you is did you ever open windows repair for a second time during the repairs and closed one of the windows repair programs? why I ask is once you tell one of the windows to close it sends a form close and kill's the windows repair program.exe .

If chkdsk is getting froze up like that it could be a sign of a bad drive with bad sectors. When it hits a bad sector it can be on it for a long long time.

If you havent done so yet make sure to do a chkdsk at startup and have it check for bad sectors.
