Regularly one or more icons only show the generic (Windows) icon and not the appropriate icon. For a long time I thought my AV program was responsible. That Windows wasn't able to pull up the icon fast enough. It turns out that the icons were corrupted and that running Windows Repair ("Repair Icons") solves the problem.
I discovered this because I was forced to remove the AV program for a short while but the generic icons kept popping up.
