Hi, Julian,
What is your clear message. Do i have to try duckduckgo. Please share your experience on that. What is the link in your post referred to.
                    Google is listening....
May also mean it is listening to its viewers and users.
May also means that it a kind of snooping on all the user activities. The thread only shows that it involuntarily collects user information on sites, etc etc. I will make a visit to duckduckgo
The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".

I was saying I liked the voice command for google searching. the duckduckgo web search is up to anyone I personally like bing over the different search engines this thread is all about debating the integrity of search engines I'm hoping people will have a better light on trying new things. the links that were posted are not meant to scare users just to enlighten them. To be honest I don't believe there is a best search engine its all about preference.

Hi, Julian,
Now i understand. Does duckduckgo provide search results for regional language. What about it . i do not know. I am only perusing now. If it does not steal your personal information, then it is good try and would prove to be alternative. But if it is like babylon search or my search then it is a kind of PUP Potentially unwanted programme.

Hi, Nice, i have selected the regional language . But then how to type in search bar in the selected language. Is there any keyboard available like phonetic keyboard in google. How to type in selected regional language.
Where is the origin of this site.

Hi, So as regards localized search, the duckduckgo does not offer much. If it has a keyboard, then perhaps this may.
For univesal search, may be it is becoming used by so many now.

The language choice is for the interface only, not search entries, that is controlled by your OS.

The country location generates search results more relevant to your specific location.

Hi, I understand . I have selected correctly everything. But how do you get results of regional language if you type in English. Google has the key board to phonetically type, that is typing in english, but the resultant typing shows regional language and so the results in regional language. May be that is the improvement sought or i do not know how to do this. Engllish searches are ok. But you also need search engines in your specific language.
But since, the language i have choosen is supported by duckduckgo, there may be something i miss.
The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".

Hi, How to have duckduck go as search engine. I do not want them to have in firefox, ie, or chrome or in othr browsers. How to have that as the sole engine.
Does that has option of download and saving like other browsers.
If you use firefox, it shows the history of visiting pages, the main crucial point of this topic. Pl thro light
The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".

You can set your homepage as DuckDuckGo, if that is what you mean.

Firefox will save your history, unless you set it otherwise.

The point in this thread was that DuckDuckGo does not store details of your activity, whereas Google etc do.

Bear in mind that aside from Google searches, they continue to track you online.....unless you use something like https://www.ghostery.com/en/our-solutions/ghostery-add-on/ , or similar.

See the screenshot below of trackers on Tweaking.com homepage.

Samson,
Would you add more information about the localised search with this. There is no problem. in IE, i made it as default engine.
Is it work like firefox, which has google as search engine. I mean, it works as search engine in another browser. Does not have its own search engine, only browser. Is that correct?

Hi, Samson, My query is related to the typing of search words in duckduckgo. Because, there are so many blogs and sites in my regional lanaguage. Google has keyboard for all the languages so, you could search in your language and the results would be shown in the same language.
But the search results are showing the regional sites which have english as common language.
The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".

Jraju,

I do not know the answer to that one my friend, I think you may have to toggle your regional and language settings for your OS in control panel, in order to enter the search word in the language that you want and hopefully display the results in the same.

When english is your first language, it makes you lazy  :shy:

Hi, Julian,
When i made searches in duckduckgo, there is no page end for searches, it continuously uploading page after page.
One thing also i noticed, After a few search on the contents of the search item, it also gives unwanted sites, which does not find in words in search items. How it is and is there a filter to effect that.
I know that you will not buy that argument, anyhow, it was the case. After showing  search results, it add unwanted sites link in between them. Was there any bug? Or the site has been intruded .

The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".

Go into settings and enable "page breaks" if you want that, turn off adverts, and use more specific search terms.
