« on: December 31, 2013, 11:03:09 am »
Tried (AIO) on several machines that had issues, xp, vista, win7, every one worked except one win7 machine.  The problem is with windows update, service pack 1 will not install before and after running tweak.

Here is the error: Code 80073701  Have tried all the fixes that I could find and nothing works....  Don't tell me I have to re-install

Try this first and after it does its thing, if it is able to, you should be able to install service pack 1 :-)

Thanks for the reply, however I have tried this and just in case I downloaded it again and ran it, still no joy on the SP1.  I think the issue is this from the CBS log:
HRESULT_FROM_WIN32(ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING)

There is only one language pack installed, English.  Can attach the entire file if needed.....  My problem is that I need to replace the sxs assembly but can not find it on any of the win7 machines.   Thanks

If the winsxs folder is messed up then your in for a pain lol

But there is a trick. Normally I have people do this as a repair install, you will do the same but sp1 is already a part of it :-)

To do that you need a Windows 7 with SP1, you can get it here
https://sites.google.com/site/linuxlablibrary/windows-iso

And then just follow this guide on how to do a repair install
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html

Your programs and settings will still be there and that will get you updated and get the winsxs repaired at the same time :-)

Thanks again, I was afraid of that.  No biggie I guess.  I am trying to repair a remote computer 1500 miles away and an inexperienced owner (I'm being very kind here) and am a little uncertain as to there abilities to get me back on line following detailed repairs, know what I mean?  Great info on both of your sites, count me in as a full time user (and donater) , worth every penny my man....  Your good.!

Yeah that does make it hard lol.

The winsxs folder is one of the worse ideas in Windows. It always grows and never shrinks and once it gets corrupt there is no fixing it without at least a repair install so the winsxs folder can be rebuilt.

This is REALLY worth a read just for the understanding of the winsxs folder :-)
