Sounds like a lot of odd problems.

What version of Windows?

thanks for the contact
windows 7
I think some of the problem originated with a silly virus program that I had to remove
also since upgrading nvidai software it hshows a audio  section thats not activated , this could have caused the sound card not to activate , dont realy know
tried everything I can think of

A repair install might be a good idea. It isnt a fresh install, you keep all your programs and such.

To do that you need a Windows 7 with SP1, you can get it here
https://sites.google.com/site/linuxlablibrary/windows-iso

And then just follow this guide on how to do a repair install
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html

Sounds like your problems are deep in the registry, the repair install might fix that since most of the registry is rebuilt during the repair install.

hi xenon
How did you try sfc command
The correct command is sfc /scannow in Run command as administrator
Try it. Otherwise, repair install as advised by shane is the only option. Sfc command tries to restore the missing dll and system protected files for the system from its store installation. It is better  to repair windows not reinstall . It will definitely solve the problem.
The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".

The fact that a repair install wont even start tells me there are a lot of deep problems and we could take a ton of time trying to find out what.

There are over 1 million keys in the registry. Trying to find which ones need replaced will be a nightmare. I would rather try the repair install and get it working as it will do a TON for us.

Any chance you can get a screen shot of the error for me?

The system is really screwed up for some reason.

I have to check your past posts, but did you check the hard drive for bad sectors yet?

Is there anyway possible you can get me a screen shot of picture of the exact error when you try to do the repair install?

And before you try the repair install again try uninstalling your antivirus to make sure it isnt getting in the way. Also I know the repair install will write to the boot sector so the setup can continue. If there is a boot sector virus that could be stopping it.
