Windows 7 slow Boot up
« on: November 22, 2013, 02:39:22 pm »
Hello Again Shane,
I Need your help once again please. My laptop is a Toshiba C660D Satellite.I am using Windows 7 Home premium (64bit ) and IE9.
Just recently my boot up speed has gone from 60 seconds to 125 seconds. The web page load up is also very slow.I have tried all the well known tune up and repair tools but nothing has worked.Would be grateful for your advice.

The web page load is up is because of the accumulation of cache and files in the temp folder. First go to Windows\temp folder in c: drive and delete all the files. Download CCleaner from piriform home edition and then opt for analying and cleaning, the default analyse, and then application and then registry. It will clean all the cache and unwanted orphaned files in the registry as well. Then try the web page, it will be more brisk and have firefox as browser. This is my recommendation.
Regarding booting timings, it depends on the start up program, when your computer starts up. You would have enabled auto updates of some of the application and also would have enabled auto scan by some program. This you could open ccleaner and then in the startup tab, you will find the list of programs that start with the booting and disable some of them which is not at all needed. If you want , you could click those shortcuts of the program to work. You could there by limit the loading of programs at the start up and increase your speed at booting. If there is any hitch, then enable those program which prevent normal booting. Ok. I found ccleaner is a wonder free tool in this regard. You could customize file cleaning by including c:windows\temp in cleaning whenever you clean the system. Clean once in 2 to 3 days and your problem would be gone. Do not install unwanted registry cleaner. It destroys the system sub files, while cleaning. Use CCleaner and use it to your advantage
The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".

Please see the startup items and then disable those you do not need , not to startup while booting. I have not given idea to uninstall the program. Please clearly see my post

How many programs are running shown in the task manager after you boot up?

And have you tried my simple system tweaker yet?

That could be any number of reasons, do you have any trouble with firefox or chrome or is it just IE?

And have you tried installing IE 11 instead of using 9?

Update on my last reply.I have found a  programme Bitdefender Total security which i thought i had uninstalled with a download called  Your Uninstaller. It uninstalls it completly but Bitdefender keeps coming back into the listed programmes in Your uninstaller.I have tried uninstalling Bitdefender with CCleaner pro but when i click on the key to uninstall nothing happens. The key does not function. The same thing happens in Windows add/remove programmes.Would be very grateful for your advice.

You have to see if they have a removal utility, most progrmas like that do.

Also did you ever see how many programs you have running in the background like I asked in an earlier post?

I found the removal tool for Bitdefender and that is now clear.I am left with two final errors. The first being Microsoft Security essentials will not download error 0x8004FF91 pops up.I have tried your fix it tool but when i come to the listing page MSE is not in.So i have gone into not listed but it requires a 38 number product code which i do not have. The second error is that windows will not update.Error 9C59 comes up.I am using windows 7 (64 )bit and IE9.

Not sure why they say that since it is completely automated :-)

I think because it is automated that means that problems could happen. I have yet to run into a problem with it, but you never know.

But you should run it, a lot of infection aim at Windows update and defender.
