Computer won't start, check both fans
« on: March 26, 2013, 11:50:23 am »
I got a link for here from my digital life whilst I was waiting for a download to finish for windows 7 as installing new hard drive in newer lap top and they recommended your all in one. So downloaded and ran on my old gateway, it ran all ok, then asked to restart, clicked ok and went out... Just got home, gateway will not start, get first screen, loud beeps and it says turn off and check both fans.   Please help don't have a clue, not very pc literate, but need the gateway to get windows 7 for my dell, now only have iPad.  Thank you

That isnt from Windows, that is from the bios on the mother board.

Try a power reset. Pull the power cord out of the computer tower. With the cord unplugged hit the power button a few times. This will drain all the power out of the system.

Then plug it back in and turn it on and let me know how it goes

Hi Shane, thank you for replying.  I solved it, read a million forums lol I found a windows 7 boot disk can be used with vista, so that's what I did, took a few attempts but finally got it to do a repair then a system restore. Now it is back to how it was.  I have definitely learned, even as a grandmother, if at first you don't succeed (don't throw it against the nearest wall) read, Read, READ!  Thank you.  :shy:
