Tweaking.com - Advanced System Tweaker v2.0.0
« on: February 17, 2021, 11:50:30 pm »
Hi,

I just joined Tweaking.com so please excuse my ignorance if my questions appear too noob or general in nature.

I have two main questions.

Q1. I downloaded and installed Advanced System Tweaker v2.0.0 but when I open it up, it appears to only cater for Windows XP and Windows 7 (See attachment Screenshot-1) Is that correct or have I downloaded the wrong version of the program? Will be happy to purchase the Pro version providing it supports Windows 10 Pro.

Q2. When I click on the Get More Add-ons link, I get a web page that opens stating:
An Error Has Occurred!
The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you. (See attachment Snapshot-2)

Why is that? What do I need to do to be able to view and get any add-ons that are available?

A reply to the above two questions would be gratefully received.

Many thanks and I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Best regards,

Andrew

When I checked the download it only illustrated v1.0

There is a Simple System Tweaker but as you are prepared to buy a Pro version, you get a fuller tweak as part of the advanced tools in the Pro version of Windows Repair.

https://www.tweaking.com/content/page/windows_repair_all_in_one.html

My pic shows just one section of those tweaks.

Thank you for your assistance, Tom.

It appears I got an older version originally because I downloaded it through another site (MajorGeeks)

When I used the link you gave me, I got the correct version, installed it and then purchased a license and all is good. Registered to PRO and working a treat. Now to explore all of its functions

Appreciate your prompt support.

Kind regards,

Andrew

Just a word of warning when using the Windows Repair program which I forgot to mention.

It has two bugs in it which I've brought to Shane's attention and waiting for him to fix, although he's unable to replicate the latter one so he's not sure what he can do about that one.

The first one is should you try to restore using the auto registry backup, when you hit the Restore now button it produces an error, so you may not get a full restore.

The second is that if you use the program's option to create a restore point, while it will report that it has successfully create one, it doesn't actually physically create the restore point so it's advisable to manually create your own prior to running the repairs.

Thanks so much for the heads up about these two bugs Boggin. I'd created backups with both of those functions so will now create a restore point and full registry export manually just in case until a future update advises those bugs have been squashed.

Once again, thank you for all of your help and pointers on how to get my copy registered and where to download the version I needed for Windows 10 support.

Much appreciated!

Regards, Andrew

You're welcome. :)

On the odd occasion when I need to use a restore point, I've found it works better in Safe Mode, although the restore option is available in the advanced boot options.

Prior to test running new versions of the repair program, I would create a system image onto an external HDD just to be sure.
