tweaking.com and Windows Insider Previews
« on: March 14, 2018, 05:14:00 pm »
It's tough, I know, but you've got to be real careful with the repairs from this program using it on Insider Preview. It's like trying to walk on eggs and not breaking them in the process. Dangerous as hell. I only use it for tweaking very little. Sfc scan, checking variables, etc.
I tried running a few fixes and created a disaster. Messed up my updates when trying to repair.
I have decided to park it for a while until on a solid build.

BE CAREFUL TO ALL!

Yes, Shane advises against using WR on the Insider Beta versions - perhaps you should have asked first and saved yourself from those problems.

Perhaps is right. Very unwise of me.  :shy:

I've asked my Support to see if this can be included on the main Tweaking.com page for not to use it on Insider Previews.

That is a very good idea Boggin. Please do. And I will also tell you that even if you backup your registry and try and go back, it will not work. Even Restore, no good. I was lucky and had backed everything on USB and cloud. I got the GSOD. Yes. The screen goes green, not blue. Reinstalled Windows. It was a pain.

There's no luck in backing up - it's sound practice.

I don't use the Cloud but make regular system images onto an ext. HDD using Macrium Reflect Free.
