Envelope Printer Portable 2.0.1
« on: August 28, 2017, 02:56:13 pm »
I just installed Envelope Printer Portable 2.0.1 and have a question...

My Canon ImageCLASS MF4890DW Laser printer has a single feed slot I use for printing envelopes.
The program lists only One paper bin: 7: Auto and doesn't give me a choice to select the single sheet feeder I use for envelopes. How can I set this so It will print correctly? When I put an envelope in the feeder and print, I only see the bottom line of the send to address and the PostNet below that. My return address is not printed as it is way off the envelope.

Edit: When I print from the normal printer bin without an envelope in the single sheet feeder it will print in the center of the paper which is correct.
Is there any documentation for this program?

Does it print the envelope correctly when you place the envelope to one side in the paper feed ?

My old Epson is a vertical feed and I need to place mine to the right of where the A4 slots in.

The single sheet feeder is centered in the printer. I can't move it to one side.

What I meant was that you position the envelope.

I can't position the envelope in the feeder. The feeder is centered in the printer. I could open the spreader, but the envelope would probably not feed correctly.

Looking at https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/black-and-white-laser/mf4890dw it seems that you could position the envelope to the left or right and the feed rollers should be able to pick up the envelope - have you tried it ?

I don't know what types of printer Shane wrote this program for and if it could be modified for a dedicated envelope slot.

I would imagine that it is designed to print to the right of a sheet of A4 for the chosen envelope format.

See how the address comes out on a sheet of A4, but my printer feeds in the envelopes okay.

There were 2 listings for envelope size:
Printer Supported - 20: envelope #10 (COM10) (4.12x9.50)
and
Custom - US Official 10 (4.125x9.5) inches

I chose the first one above and it printed correctly on a standard size sheet *8.5x11) in the single sheet feeder and printed correctly.
I then adjusted the feeder for the envelope and it printed correctly.

I guess choosing the correct envelope size from the Envelope Size drop-down fixed the problem.
