Password and Administrator Password gone after repair
« on: May 23, 2016, 10:05:52 pm »
Ran Windows Repair 3.9.0 on Windows 7, Dell Vostro machine. Did all optional steps. Everything in Safe Mode, as suggested. When the repair was complete, I rebooted and could not log in using my normal password. It says User Profile not found. So I logged in as guest and went to Users. It asks for the Administrator password and won't accept it. Basically, I am completely locked out of my PC. Help!

Thanks,
Greg

No commands on any of the repairs will touch the passwords on the computer. Now did it say user profile not found or did it say "User profile cannot be loaded"

Hi, If you cannot log on,
you could try safe mode. There you could select safe mode. In safe mode, you could easily use system restore in the accessories , system tool menu to get system restore.  You could select the resote point created prior to repair and restsore the same. If it is not working,, then
There you could select command prompt and networking. IN the command prompt, just type restrui.exe and press enter.
Then if it shows the previous restore points, try the restore points prior to this repair.
If it resolves, then well and good.
But normally , the windows repair tool never touch those things as pw and admin pw.
The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".

One second jraju it sounds like a corrupted user profile that is why I asked if it said "User profile cannot be loaded" I just wanted to clarify that before a  system restore is done.

Hi, then the error message he mentioned is incorrect? I got your point that his user profile would have been corrupted. wait from him

It says "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User Profile could not be loaded."

So I tried to follow instructions from neosmart.net to fix corrupted profile in Windows 7. Could not do it through Guest Account because when I get to "Manage another account" it asks for the administrator password, but will not accept the one I was able to use prior to running Repair WMI. Method #2 suggests to start by reboot into Safe Mode by holding F8 through the boot process. Unfortunately, I am unable to boot into Safe Mode ever since I ran Repair WMI. Method #3 downloads and runs Microsoft Fixit, but that also requires administrative password. Am I screwed?

Interestingly, if I put in a totally bogus administrative password it says "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." But if I put in the correct password, it accepts it but fails to open to the next screen. This is my wife's PC. She is going to get really peeved if I don't fix this soon so please help if you have a good idea.
