Ubuntu

No one can solve this so if you have time maybe you can.

I downloaded the current iso file from Ubuntu's home page to dvd-rw.
When I insert it in the lap top it works. When I do the same with the desktop the screen shows black with white data and freezes so I have to hard boot. I have almost burned out a power supply by trying various discs and other ways and have about 6 hang ups.
When it installed, by error, I removed it but had a heck of a time removing the dual boot -I did finally.

Do you have any idea why I cannot get past this frozen screen?
I have gone to the BIOS and set cd/dvd as first boot and it still hangs.
Thanx
Peter

I have had unbuntu do that on some systems as well. It is driver related.

There should be some options on loading it up in a more of a safe driver type mode. You will need to research to find out, I havent been using it that much and cant remember off the top of my head.
