All In One Repair Stalls at 02.03 File Permission G:1
« on: December 13, 2014, 11:26:00 am »
Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I am running the All In One V2.10.2 and have followed the instructions to the T and each time the repairs cannot get by the 02.03 File Permission which is 4 of 47. Have also tried in safe mode with no success. Any suggestions?

So even in safe mode it still fails? Thats odd. The repair is run as the system account, so the tweaking_ras.exe is used to start the repair. If that exe is blocked or unable to make itself as a service then the repair wont run.

The other repairs before it run fine though, including the registry permissions?

Also what version of Windows?

That's correct all of the preliminary backups and scans were completed without incident. I have followed the instructions given several times and it will not go beyond  the 02.03 File permission on each attempt. The operation system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
Thanks for your reply.

What is the exact message you get when it wont go past that repair, does it say the repair couldnt start?

Shane,
There is no error message. The program appears to be working but after 12 hours (over night) there is no progress. CPU usage will vary but will always return to zero over a 30 second period.
Thanks for the help

Ran the program again last night including all of the preliminary scans. Then ran the all in one program but de-selected 02.03 File Permission G:1. The program ran without incident and restarted at the conclusion. I then ran the all in one program with only 02.03 selected and it ran for 4 hours before I stopped the repair manually.  Something appears to be corrupted in the File Permission G:1 file. Any suggestions? System seems to be running OK. Is this a problem or an irritant? Originally ran the program due to periodic system lock up. screen looks normal, hourglass running continuously, and no ability to activate any of the icons. Required manual shut down and reboot.
Thanks,
Rick

When the program sets the permissions it uses the setacl program in the files folder. Either the 32 or 64 bit depending on the system. That exe is what sets the permissions, when you get to that repair is that exe running?

It might be having trouble with a certain file or folder. Do you have it run only on the C: drive or do you have other drives you have it run on? (I see G: in your last post)

Shane,
The G drive is my mirror image Carbonite backup drive. It would seem that when running the All in one program it is not necessary to include the G drive. Is the answer simply to deselect this drive when running the program?
Thanks,
Rick

Correct. Just have it do the Windows drive and skip the G: drive. Looks like it has it protected so the setacl is trying to set the permissions but carbonite might be fighting it, so it never ends.
