I am running the latest version of Registry Backup, version 3.53, on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (1809 build 17763.503)
Although it seems to have stopped happening with such regularity, I still see the errors below from time to time (and they are always the same) in the reliability history (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Security and Maintenance > Maintenance > view reliability history).
By searching these forums for MSVBVM60.DLL I see that this has been mentioned before, but the problem got linked to issues with failed backups which is unrelated - my backups always work fine - so I thought it would be better to open a new thread as the problem has never been solved.
I read in other threads that the errors are due to the program closing too quickly and that seems to be the case. It was much worse when I had Registry Backup set to run at the first boot of each day. I later set the program to run at a scheduled time when the PC is always on and it happens far less now. It seems to be most likely to happen when the PC is busy with other tasks but I have not be able to pin that down to anything specific.
When the error occurs I always see these 3 files left in Windows\Temp: vss.bat, vss_start.bat, vss-setvar.bat (I have saved copies if needed) which again points to the fact that perhaps the program closes before all of its processes have finished.
Is there not a way to make the program check that all of it's processes have finished before it closes and / or add a delay to the program close?
While this problem is not impacting my ability to make backups, it is making a big mess of my reliability reports. This was especially annoying when I had some conflicts in a newly built Windows 10 system that were causing BSODs.
