default programs no longer possible

After an "All repairs" (version 4.0.12) in Windows 10, can not change a default program, they are all in error
What to do ?

I don't have an answer for that but boot into Safe Mode with Networking and open the repair program.

Click on Backup Tools and click on Restore under the Registry back up.

Click on the Restore Registry tab then use the dropdown to select the back up and hit Restore Now to see if you can then change them.

What was the reason you ran the repair program ?

There is a big problem between Windows 10 and the drivers of Hewlett-Packard printers that suddenly stop printing.
It starts again after using Windows Repair. I guess it's a question of lost rights

It must be changing the default printer somehow.

Have you tried clicking on the Settings cog and seeing what it says for your printer in Devices ?

It's supposed to default using the printer you used the most recently when that box is checked but you could try using the add a printer option to try and nail it down.

Did it stop printing after getting the Fall Creators Update ?

In what way were you unable to change the default devices after using the repair program and did that improve after using the registry restore ?

We tried to default, to install / reinstall the printer, to update the driver, the firmware.
Used without success "Print and Scan doctor"
Sometimes a generic driver or a basic Photosmart driver works in part ...
HP does not have a solution

So is the printer or drivers Win 10 compatible ?

You didn't say if the printer stopped working after installing the FCU or when this started happening.

Does the printer work in Safe Mode with Networking with whichever driver ?
