« on: July 23, 2015, 02:58:38 pm »
my MMC console doesn't work and it says "no audio output device is enabled". I did a sfc /scannow and it says check cbs.log

Can you run this cmd from an elevated cmd prompt findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt" to repost your CBS Log.

This cmd will place an icon onto your Desktop which when double clicked will open the CBS Log in Notepad which you can copy & paste.

It is an abbreviated version where it just lists the files it has and been unable to repair which makes for easier reading.

Did you try Win 7's Troubleshooting/View all then Playing Audio to see what that reports ?

Can you post a screen shot of the error for me?

Shane

Looking at the CBS Log, I was wondering what a chkdsk would report regarding bad sectors.

I don't have the computer with me right now, but I already ran a chkdsk /f on the volume.
as for the sfc error, it said "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them"

What did the chkdsk /f report ?

One of those sfc errors relates to an error brought about by KB3068708 which it can't fix, but the others were being reported as also corrupt in the store.

An offboot sfc /scannow done after booting up with an install disk may be able to do something with those, but can you post a pic of the error message as requested by Shane and he may have another workaround.

maybe ask him run the other program you found the other day; sfcfix? and combo fix?

There are other errors in that CBS Log that don't appear to be WU generated with their counterparts also corrupt in the Store, which is why knowing what chkdsk /f reports and a screenshot of the error as Shane has asked for need to be looked at.

SFCFix.exe isn't a fix all as it tells you it can't fix everything.

Boggin, yes, you are right... but it useful to let him try first!
