Can't create restore points
« on: May 01, 2013, 01:59:59 pm »

Oh help, please !

I can no longer create Restore Points, nor does System Restore automatically create them.  Get "catastrophic error" -- yet task scheduler shows they are created.

My system:  Vista Home Premium x64.  Only using Microsoft Security Essentials for AV and Windows Firewall.

Any ideas ?  I don't relish having to do a system recovery.  Thanks.

(FWIW, I did NOT mean to hijack someone else's post -- sorry.)

What is making that vbs file? Can you go grab it and post it for me?

Sorry, I don't have any option now of "open with" for that .vbs file.  I found it about 6 months ago somewhere on the internet.

However, when I try to manually create a restore point, this is the "catastrophic error" I'm receiving.

One added thing:  In system protection, Vista HP indicates that restore points are turned OFF.  However, in Services the Volume Shadow Copy is on.

Did you go to the properties of the system, the system restore tab and make sure it is turned on?
