Yup, I have been around for a good while.

All good intentions are most certainly appreciated, while waiting for Shane to pass on these great subjects.

It is his program(s) being affected, so even the least amount of respect & courtesy is due to him in the first instance.

To to be sure, in my opinion anyway. Enough said, with all due respect to all, Jim

Hello again maxXPsoft: Looks cool to me, but what do I know anyway!! I always do searches and ask questions like that on my own and others thoughts about computer program problems.

Am sort of getting the general feeling that this is an important matter that Shane will be very interested in, so you thoughts and time should be greatly appreciated by him and perhaps many future viewers of these forums on this subject.

BTW, how is this process enable a repair in you estimation? Thanks so much for your contribution! James

Hello maxXPsoft. While waiting for Shane, googled your suggestion:
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=%22repair%22+%22sc+config+Schedule+start%3D+auto%22+task+scheduler&start=10

Could not see exact match though a bit with Vista (often akin to Win7)

Have a source of verified Win 7 use to share with us?

Thanks James

ok holding fire but looks near on point but w/o a $M auto-defrag to the extent that could matter.

@ Samson.

>No inquiry exits about windows repair right now, just registry backup. My poor old time buddy-standby Erunt bit the dust and seems abandoned, so its time for some new quality blood.
>Yup, the schedule created popup, opened right away.
>The Regbackup folder's specific subfolder exists (my computer name). My prior Tweaking.com manual registry backups are listed therein.

@ Shane.
>I am complete Nube as to the windows task scheduler so I just plain do not know how to check it to see if it ran or not, but if its shown in the Registry backup program will take a look-see around.

>>Update... solely opened "edit schedule" with click(s). A popup appeared stating: "The selected task "0" no longer exists. To see the current tasks click refresh."

Three panes opened:

(1.>top) Overview of Task Scheduler. >>> Some general Task scheduler info is displayed.
(2.>middle) Task status. >>> This windows reads: "reading data failed"
(3.>Bottom) Active tasks. >>> This windows reads: "reading data failed"

Most obviously, something is wrong in Denmark!! :undecided:

Been up a while, but here is what is happening.

To make sure we are on same page as much as possible, I removed the tweaking.com shortcut from the startup folder.

On startup, tweaking.. does NOT run. No Tweaking...shown in task manager or process hacker unless and until I open it to run manually with a double click on the program shortcut in my desktop.

The run under system account radio button is marked.

Ran the create schedule button after deleting the current schedule but do not know what's happening because I did that.

The only do 1 auto backup per day box checked.

Now what, other than there has been no registry backup created.

ok, after reinstall over old install, Tweaking.. now running and shown in both services mentioned. Both settings you mentioned already setup that way, so all is cool there.

Also, programs I want to startup on reboot first, I put in the startup folder. That simple.

All is cool now, it seems. Sop will wait till morning I guess to see what happens another calendar day.

Thanks much guy, Jim

Uhh, post-reboot was no "tweaking.." in task manager. Now listed in startup after I dragged the tweaking open program icon into startup folder but still no tweaking running even in process hacker.

Nothing in "task tray (ya I know a new name, bla bla)" either!

Stuff's up here bud. What ya think? Thks, Jim

BTW, this forum's "Notify me of replies." option is dysfunctional even though checked cos > get no email notice. Hmmm?

 :omg:

OK Guy, deleted the top most checked schedule and opened bottom most checked schedule. So I guess its just wait, search & see thing now, right?

Hello Guys! Win 7, Home Premium x64

Have registry backup setup as of yesterday morning > I think.

But did not see a new backup in the folder so am thinking there was no auto backup.

What exactly does this mean: "makes the schedule set to run at user login" mean in the online help on page 1?

The reason I am suspicious of this "user login" business is that I have setup the startup to by-pass the login window because I did not want to be bothered messing with a sign-in on every startup.

Does this "user login" by pass I setup, mean the registry backup will not auto-run maybe?

Really appreciate your help on this.

Thanks much,

James

Hello Guys! Nube to the tweeking.com routines. Used apx. 4 times with thankful success, when needed.

Got a situation. While creating a desktop shortcut for my Win7, x64, Home premium, and using a seven forums TUT,
I would up without ability to connect to some web sites in normal mode, but safe mode w/networking connect fine.

So having tried some win7 fix suggestions, was wondering if running tweeking.com > windows or other version I have installed is an OK to use to solve that kind of problem. Just need to know if those are the kinds of problems that the tweeking.com program(s) can fix or not. :omg:

Thanks bunches, James

Did find the answer on this forum from a Shane post. Sorry, but all is ok & fine now, james

Yea, it is a jump from the orig sys-restore to dual PC disc images alright.

But the License's seem not in play, as the OS came along with each machine that were purchased first by Gateway then by me. Have the records to prove too!

Well, in any event thanks so very much for you very helpful input.

Gratefully appreciated, Jim  :undecided:

Yea Samsom, was sort of thinking along the same lines >> a "just because" gut thought thing. Right now grabbing info from the "How to Geek" to do just that but for an inclusive slightly different situation.

You see, when I moved from XP to Win7, got rid of my dilapidated old HP puter and bought two identical Gateway SX2855's with the identical Win7 Home premium 64 bit on each. My form of backup, of its own. Not an image, but close I thought.

But the Puter-1 got the black screen of death with a white cursor on bootup, so that puter is now in fix mode. I want to back up this Puter-2 because I did not have an image made of it but at the same time had no image of the Puter-1.

So was just wondering, can you see any real problem with creating a system repair disk to boot from for this Puter-2 and also a system image backup of this Puter-2.

Then, was thinking with those two Puter-2 dual backup tools in hand, also use the Puter-2 boot disk to open Puter-1 (black screen) and perhaps use the Puter-2 image on the Puter-1 if needed?

Uncharted territory perhaps? Your thoughts are likely much better than mine though, so it all helps!!

BTW, here the HTG articles (if needed)at all:

Again, really appreciate your time, Jim

Thanks a bunch Samson!

Did not notice the "portable" version before, so would have been venturing around looking for (??) hours days.
Do really appreciate your helpful input.

OK everyone, looks like the remote registry back subject has been aptly solved.

Anyone know the "How To" on the win7 system restore remote backup?

You time IS appreciated, Jim  :cheesy:

Hello Guys!! Nube to a great tweaking.com world. Just did windows repair with wonderful results. Very happy man. There was an initial backup of the initial registry along with a system restore done.

Was there an automatic new tweaked registry backup made? If so where is it located, pls?

If not, would like to try the tweaking.com registry backup to set a backup registry. I have Eusing but like everyone is aware, it pretty old now and while very useful in the past, I want to create a registry backup that I can store remotely (e.g. on a cd). Is that possible with the Tweaking.com Registry backup program? Also, any way you guys know how to keep a remote copy of the Win7 system restore that was made in a remote location.

My thinking is that I want a nice clean backup of the registry and system that is the "perfect" working order it is in now. BTW, I do not have a usable remote HD. Have one unit but it burned me once, so am terribly afraid to used it again (ya know?).

Really do appreciate everyone's help in advance.

Thanks so much, James.
