That's how Microsoft works and they do what they want with their programs. I have noticed that Microsoft kept changing from one version to another version like update. I know it's very frustrating for Shane with this.

I see that Shane decided not to use Windows Defender for repairs in Tweaking 4.4.4  Finally he realized that this part doesn't work the way that Microsoft want.

Good day to members here in this forum and Happy New Year to everyone too!

I am wondering if this updated version of Windows Repair 4.4.1 guarantee the fix of Windows Defender not like the previous version. I did not see any new information from Shane but he uploaded the latest version without any information.

Thank you,

John

General Computer Support / File History

Could not enable File History

The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK when I went to Settings and click " Backup " and add the drive. I used the external back up hard drive which is F:/ and turn on File History but got the error message above.

Also when I checked the drives in " This PC " and show me the F:/ drive there in " This PC "

At last I googled it on line to find with the error code 0x800070002 for Windows 10. And seem to me that is not the one I am looking for. You try yourself to type with this error code and see what do you think of this.

Let me know about this.

John

Now is all clean with no problem just a single account and no more with Administrators to type the password.

Smile,

John

6
Decided to go back to factory settings of my desktop and now all is good to use.

Thank you for your help with this above.

Also no more administrators to log in now just my single account. But have to update all needs for Windows 10.

John

7
Before I goes further and want to make sure which two accounts I delete? You mean the first two on message #5 with " John " and " Administrator ".

Let me know then I will delete then.

John

8
I was wondering where do I look for " JOHN/Administrators " in User Accounts. Because every time I click the program or install an exe file and ask me to type the password. That's where I want to remove this. But how?

John

9
The one is with ASP.Net Machine Account is for Microsoft Account which I have one.

So now we know what it is?

Thank you,

John

P.S. I think that I should remove my own account and create new account. Will that work with this?

No I didn't solve this as I thought I did but gave up on this.

John

11
First want to say thank you for the link but it's a little different so I back out from changing the password. Because I looked at my Users Account and show me three accounts. And here are below:

John
Local Account
Password Protected

-----------------

Administrator
Local Account
Administrator
Password Protected

----------------------

ASP.NET Machine Account
Local Account
Password Protected

----------------------------

I see in the link that show me with the name on and look below:

Boris
Local Account
Administrator
Password Protected

And where is mine like above: I don't see like this in my User Accounts.

I am not sure what else to do and might be stuck with every time to type the password before get into the program or install them. I don't like that but what else can we solve this?

John

12
Now I am stuck with having to type my password in JOHN/Administrators. I don't want that and just like yours -- a single user account. Tell me how to do this?

Found the link on Google and here is below:

http://www.xenon-webdesign.co.uk/dev/overwrite-system-32-files-admin-privileges/

Will that work for me to get access denied open up so I can extract one of the ocx file.

I have not try yet and will wait to hear first before I go ahead to do this.

John

P.S.  Never mind about this and the OCX files are there now anyway.

General Computer Support / Access Denied

I found the link while searching here in the forum and it's below:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3g42rn/updated_to_windows_10_now_im_getting_access/

I am trying to extract one of the OCX file that is missing in System32 folder. It's comdlg32.ocx What happen is that when I extract this file to C; drive and got the message " Access denied " So I decided to look up the link above and try this but it's no go for me. As I got the error and look below:

Error Applying Security

An error occurred while applying security information to:

C:\$SysReset\Scratch\csrss.exe

Failed to enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied

Then got more errors below before I decided to cancel applying security on the main drive where Windows is.

C:\pagefile.sys
C:\Program Files
C:\Program Files (x86)

Well here is my story what was happening with my desktop? Last night I decided to reset this pc because of a corrupted volsnap.sys and I couldn't get to login on Windows. Right now my Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is Ver. 1709 and Build OS 16299. Do you think that is causing the problem about "Access Denied" on my Windows 10 program?

Let me know about this.

John
C:\Swapfile.sys

Thank you to Boggin for this tip. And now it's all fixed just my Username and Password and no more Administrators on the screen.

John

I have two Adminstrators login beside my User name to log in. I don't want to have Adminstrators login on Windows startup login when you see on the screen. I have try to disable them but no luck.

Hopefully will have an answer for this.

This morning I did follow your suggestion about reset Microsoft Edge browser to default settings in Windows 10 also reinstall Microsoft Edge too on the link of The Windows Club site. But still no go with YouTube. Guess that is the time not going further with this. Want to say thank you for your help trying to get this solved however still doesn't work. Few minutes ago I did try with my wife's laptop and hers working with YouTube on Microsoft Edge in Windows 10 Standard 32X.

Bad news and now Adobe Flash is not working at all with the browser of Microsoft Edge as I try to run YouTube and can't watch the video. I don't know what happen with this today after fixed earlier in 24 hours ago? Guess that I have to go with Internet Explorer to watch the videos on YouTube. I did not want to spend too much time trying to get Adobe Flash working again with YouTube.

Mine is Microsoft Windows 10 64X Professional on my desktop. So I am asking you again that should I ENABLE or leave as with DISABLE in Group Policy Editor (GPEDIT). Right now I leave this as DISABLE with the information from Adobe Supported Forum. Maybe I misunderstood what the forum from Adobe Support mentioned in their link.

Oh yes I see the puzzle icon that highlighted in the red menu bar and after click the sub link for 1703 Enable Flash Player which gave me a bit more detail. Go to GPEDITS.MSC and one line to disable. That's it and closed. I did restart the browser to get YouTube working. But not complete fix because every time I am on the YouTube page and whichever video I picked then I have to restart to get YouTube working. It's a little pain to do this but worth to have YouTube working. One thing from the support forum of Adobe mentioned to disable the flash but there is another one to enable. I don't know if I should enable this or leave as is with disable. Before get into this there was no check to disable or enable but Adobe said to disable. So I follow whatever they said in their link.

Explain more about puzzle piece to allow Flash. I wasn't sure what you mean about this?

Sorry

Good news and almost there to fix the Adobe Flash. I found the link and might be helpful for others too. And here is below:

https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-8541#jive_content_id_OS_Version_1703__Enable_Flash_Player

The only thing is that when I type the link with Youtube in Microsoft Edge and pick the video to watch. First doesn't work then I have to restart the browser and the video can play and I can watch them. Also I wonder if I can get them working with no problem without restarting the browser every time. Maybe I should ask Adobe support forums to see what they have to say about this.

Will keep you post about this.

Yes and just checked to see if Adobe Flash is on in advanced settings of Microsoft Edge. Now I have heard that Adobe Flash doesn't work very well with the browsers. Is that true about this. And do you think that even Adobe Flash is on but still have the problem. Should I download the latest version of Adobe Flash?
