Thanks Shane for the help. I will look into a hard drive and perhaps get a new windows so I am up to speed. Appreciated the speed in which you replied to each of  my posts. I will highly recommend your site to anyone I know looking for help!

Not sure but there was a bad sector warning at one point (although only 28 kb affected) At any rate with the cost of computers being relatively low I may just purchase another and relegate this one to "gaming only" unless you believe it's worth the effort to keep trying to find a solution?

I did try running in safe mode and was finally able to get it to run completely through the repair process (although that same warning came up on the 3rd section of that particular repair. Windows update still gave the same error. I returned to microsoft help and had further investigation done where the person on the other end told me after checking a few things that there was damage to the disk and asked if I wanted to purchase windows 8? Told him no. Not planning on wasting too much more time on this. Thanks for the help though!

getting this error message: The current repair has failed to start 4 times.
Something is keeping the repair from running.
Tweaking_ras.exe in the files folder is used to run the repairs under the system account, make sure your Antivirus isnt blocking it.
Please post in the Tweaking.com forums for support.                                                                                                                                                              This is happening at the Reset Registry Permissions 03/03
   HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT & Sub Keys

General Computer Support / Windows Repair v.2.10.2 can't perform repairs
« on: December 03, 2014, 07:54:05 pm »
last message on screen after reporting unable to repair has to do with "Tweaking_ras.exe" is being stopped and suggests I check my antivirus. I only have microsoft essentials on windows 7 and have put that file in exclusions but still getting stopped from doing repairs. Any further suggestions?
