Tweaking.com Support & Help / Re: Windows Repair Pro 3.9.26
« on: March 12, 2017, 01:17:04 pm »
Boggin, you genius, you! I have printed the info as I keep particular information as hard copy if I do not use it on a regular basis. I purposely installed v3.9.24 under safe mode and after resorting back to normal mode I then installed v3.9.26 over the top as is my normal mode. It installed without a glitch so I am wondering if there was a glitch upon my initial attempt at installing it. Thanks once again. Just one other thing, how do I enter resolve to signify problem cured.

Yes, it does put a number of files into the Program Folder section before it pops up the decompression problem. The uninstall function is one of the files but it cannot do so as all the files are not installed.

No, previous versions have installed without problems. It is only with the latest version.

OK Boggin, thanks. All previous versions of WRPro installed OK yet now v3.9.25 glitches on my wife's computer.  Has Shane compiled the latest version with elements that could possibly cause a reaction due to a particular computer's architecture? Does the problem as screen grabbed show that there are elements that fail to get unzipped during installation.

Hello, I installed WRPro 3.9.26 on my W8.1 converted to W10 laptop and it runs fine. I then attempted to install it on my wife's W7 converted to W10 desktop and it failed with a decompression error as seen in the enclosed screen grab. I was going to install it on my W10 desktop but refrained in case it failed on that. I cannot even re-install the previous WRPro 3.9.25 onto her computer as now a decompression occurs with that too.
Can anyone shed light on what has happened. Thanks.

I have now installed the Realtek R2.81 driver which now shows in device manager. I do not know how to retask connectors. Do I for instance plug the subwoofer cable from the sound system into the blue ( line in by default) socket on the back of computer, and click on the retask connector on the visual display panel of the Realtek gui ?

Hello Samson, thanks for the link. I have just now downloaded the 64 bit version of Rs.81.
Here is an extract of one of the emails I received from CyberPower:

"It’s the realtek software you need to install.

The Nvidia card has an HDMI passthrough, which is digital not analog.

The capacity of it is passing through whatever you are playing (ie 2.1, 5.1, 7.1 etc…) in a digital stream.

Nvidia and realtek are separate hardware pieces, so the drivers shouldn’t interact with each other."

I explained to them that Device Manager does not show any RealTek information or links.

Thanks. Bill

Samson, the problem is that I bought the new computer, a CYBERPOWER - Gaming Empire Elite II Gaming PC in April last year and did not bother to check on connecting the 5.1 Sound System to it and in fact left it in my den untouched as I was using my laptop. It was only last week I decided to use it more that I discovered the problem of connecting it up. I did contact CyberPower who told me to install the Realtek driver on the discs that came with the computer but Googling similar problems of other users it appears that Microsoft keeps uninstalling the Realtek driver and re-installing the MS HD Audio driver.. For the length of time I was setting up the computer I just used a pair of headphones and did not at that time think about the Speaker side. Although the computer is a basic gaming machine I bought if for graphic work and as the laptop was purchased in December 2015 and I had installed graphic software on it I just kept kept using that.  Anyway, I do not know how to install the Realtek driver so perhaps I should just purchase a sound system that can be used as is. :undecided:

This all it shows, Samson. I also ran Speccy and that did not show anything to do with Realtek.

Hello Samson, I do not have that function on the computer. I am assuming it is part of the Realtek driver functions but that driver was replaced by the Microsoft HD Audio driver automatically by the W10 anniversary update.

Hello All, I bought a new desktop early part of last year which came with W10 installed. It only has three sound connections, these being pink for mic, green for speakers and a blue one. I have a Cambridge DTT 2020 sound system with 5.1 speaker units. There are three sound input leads on the sub woofer  unit, one for Speakers front, one for speakers rear and one for the sub woofer. The computer came with a Realtek audio driver which would have allowed me to reconfigure the rear mic socket and the rear blue sockets for the rear speakers and the sub woofer unit. I think it was the install of the W10 anniversary update that caused the driver to be replaced with the Microsoft HD audio driver and this will not allow me to reconfigure the two audio connections. Is it possible to replace the MS HD audio driver with the Realtek audio driver on the MSI disc that came with the computer. Thanks.

Hi Willy2, I use Mailstore Home, a free program to backup emails to an external HDD and Mailstore Home lists the email clients it caters for.

Hello Willy2, Having looked at the OEClassic website and decided it could be what I am looking for I then checked on Mailstore Home and it appears it does not work with OEClassic according to someone who set the question some three years ago. I may well install Thunderbird as that is catered for in Mailstore Home.

Hello Willy2, Yes, it is Windows Live Mail and am aware of MS's plan to stop support for WLM. I was considering installing Thunderbird on both computers as a replacement. I will look up OEClassic and see what that has to offer so thanks.

Hello ALL, my wife has WLM 2011 on her updated from W7 to W10 computer and I would like to replace it with WLM 2012. Is it a straight overwrite or a different procedure? I am not worried losing all the custom folders as I can remake them afresh. I would also ensure that all folders content are backed up to her external USB HDD by using MailStore before the changeover. Thanks.

Hello Boggin, after trying every script, tips, cab files, registry cleanup and all appertaining fixes to W10 not updating cumulative updates I decided today to try the MS Media Creation Tool. As it appears that if one already has a version of W10 on their system the tool gives a choice of installing an update or making a W10 copy onto a USB etc for installing on another computer. I ticked the UPDATE and KEEP MY OWN FILES boxes and the result is that Winver is now 14393.321 and on the final restart all the icons that were selected to appear on the task bar did so. I did a power down and boot up again and searched for further updates. This resulted in Flash Player KB3194343 and Windows update KB3199209 (both not requiring restart) being installed so problem resolved. I will not add SOLVED to header as I an not the originator of the entry.

OK Boggin. I tend to make two registry backups with any situation where I may have to do a restore. One is with the system and the other with Tweaking Registry. The Tweaking one is made to an external HDD as in the past where I have had to do a restore and the system one has failed I have used the Tweaking one which has so far not failed me.

Hello Boggin, I put the cumulative update problem on the Avast Forum and followed various inputs from a couple of long standing members but to no avail. Today I received a response from one of them after I had replied to their suggestions and he suggested I click on a hyperlink he supplied and it happened to be the Windows Repair program. I have the Pro version so wonder if it may contain an answer to the problem.
