General Computer Support / FTP Issues

Greetings,

I am having issues with FTP timing out to my web host.  I have ran Simple System Tweaker and TCPOptimizer in the past.

Could SST make a change that would affect my FTP ability?

Also lets see if something put a regkey in to block iexplorer from running :-)

In the registry see if you have this

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplorer.exe

and do you have anything under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\safer\codeidentifiers\
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy Objects\

Let me know what  you find, feel free to export those keys and post them so I can look at them :-) (If you post them make sure to put them in a zip file)

Thank you for looking into this...

Open the task manager and see if any iexplorer.exe are running, if they are kill them.

Then go tot he program files folder and internet explorer and run it from there instead of the short cut. Does it show up in the task manager?

Shane
Task Manager / Processes tab, no iexplorer.exe was running.

Start / All Programs / Internet Explorer - same issue

Start / All Programs / Internet Explorer 64-bit - Page opened right up and 2 entries in the Processes tab

Trying to fix my buddies computer - had some nasty stuff on here.  He stated that IE will not connect and that his virus (Norton 360) was telling him that he was infected.  I removed his Norton and McAfee and installed MSE.  I used malwarebytes and cleaned up what I found (trogans and a root kit).  I ran ccCleaner and tried your program (Windows Repair).  I ran Windows Repair twice to with the default settings.  I even tried ComboFix.

I can get on the internet w/ Chrome, but IE will not open.  I tried the icon and command line to get that open.  Funny thing, as I was registering on your site, it prompted me to upgrade quicktime and that is the only way to get IE open and surfing the web.  I even saved this site on my desktop and it will not launch IE.  I know IE works, but I cannot get it to launch.  I even tried the Microsoft "FixIT" and it still fails to open.

Any ideas?
