great, thank you, Shane! :) I'm happy that you've exterminated the bug in our Computers  :cheesy:
cheers!

Shane!

yes, I did a repair install, which did not improve the situation...

but I think I've nailed it  :cheesy:

have a try: rename your computer in system properties > computer name > change...
to computer

will you get the same result as me?

I've just got the backup working by simply renaming my computer from computer to something else!

p.s. the new 1.5 behaves the same way!

hello Shane, thanks for quick reply!

I've just ran the WMI repair tool, but to no avail, unfortunately...

I thought it might have something to do with WMI 3.0 update which was installed by windows update yesterday,
I uninstalled the update, ran the repair tool again, but no. Still the backup won't pick the system32\config up....

In the log there are mentions of "invalid global switch":

...YOU MUST RESTART YOUR SYSTEM...

The problems I mentioned started after I resurrected my windows by copying the SOFTWARE file from \system32\config\regbackup using a recovery disc (system wouldn't boot because I thoughlessly installed and then removed a touchpad driver via Revo Uninstaller - a lesson to learn, btw...)
They include this very glitch and others, among which is SFC check stopping at 56% and telling it could not recover some system file...
Seems like I finally screwed up my system, and complete reinstall is imminent (which is the worst option due to a LOT of software to reinstall along with it)

hello!

my first post here, please have mercy on me if it was answered already, my search abilities might be greatly reduced by my frustration (I've been fighting with random windows 7 problems for several days)

my question is, why won't registry backup 1.4.3 (portable) back the system32\config\* files up?

instead of many words, just have a look:

it only backs up the user files for some reason.

I've watched your video and clearly saw that the files from system32\config were backed up as well..

could you please help?
