« on: December 18, 2014, 08:34:15 pm »
Shane,
Yes, I can log on successfully and complete
my changes. The error box is gone.
Can I get rid the unhandled exception anyway?
Thanks,

General Computer Support / unhandled exception
« on: December 18, 2014, 12:02:48 pm »
Microsoft.Net Framework Access the path C:\settings.xml is denied.
This appears when I attempt to change the aspect ratio of Hauppauge Wintv
on windows 7 64.
I can successfully work around this error by logging in as administrator.
I would like to eliminate the error if possible.
Many Thanks,
Marv

General Computer Support / .dl repair
« on: July 28, 2014, 08:01:38 am »
MSVCP71.dll is missing does not seem to affect anything.
The warning appears while clicking on Haupphauge TV icon and then is clicked off in OK box.
It does seem to affect the performance of TV on my Laptop or any other areas.
I can use a suggested method to replace the .dll in the registry.
Is it necessary?
Twreaking did not repair it.
Win7 64
Thanks.

Later I used Recuva from Piriform LTD, found a good copy of the file and replaced it in all degsinated areas.
I replaced it in my  in WinTV Haupphauge program. Everything works OK but message still appears"try reinstalling program".
MSVCP71.dll no longer appears as a missing program in Recuva
SOLVED!!  placed .dll in C:\Windows\SysWOW64. All is well!!

There are some reports that Tweaking  removes the imbedded malware Scorpion Saver from
its registry locations. It seems to be gone. I also used Malware MalwareBytes.

General Computer Support / sound problems XP
« on: October 10, 2012, 01:32:42 pm »
I am working on a Dell Dimension 1550. Sound quits and returns after reboot.
Tried to update audio drivers no success. Device Manager is clean.
Ran Tweak. Sound has returned. It may quit again since I rebooted after Tweak.
Any suggestions.

General Computer Support / Re: Google Earth 6.22
« on: September 22, 2012, 06:27:57 am »
Shane,
I contacted Google Earth and Verizon.
No response but all is well. I assume the fix was done
by either service.
Thanks,
Marvin

Shane,
The Google Earth issue has become abit more
confusing.  I will contact Verizon and Goggle Earth for input.
Reason is: I can receive in zip 20037
I cannot in zip 19971. All are the settings and transmission values
are the same.
All other programs work in both zip codes.
Thanks,
Marvin

When using Google Earth 6.22 version with Verizon Wireless USB modem,
Message appears indicating that no connection can be made with the Google earth server.
This combination has worked in the past.

General Computer Support / Re: BITS service will not start

Shane,
While  was researching the BITS start prroblem,
I entered a group of .dll  at cmd admtn regsvr32.
I do not recall what they were, and have no idea whether or
not they had any affect on the solution.
Just a note to you for cosideration from a novice.
Many thanks.

Shane,

After I loaded the SC create string, as you know, BITS would not start.

I then clicked on BITS.Zip you suggested  and the windows update installed all 14 updates.
Without BITS the updates, of course, would not install.

I cannot thank you enough for culminating a multiday arduous task.  I urge you to
include this fix for BITS in Tweaking. There are a multitude of individuals who do not look at
Vista 64 answers when win7 64 is the OS.

Again, I am pleased and greatful for your support.
Regards,
Marvin

Shane,
The BITS service is missing in my win 7 64. I used the following:

sc create BITS binpath= "c:\windows\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs" start= delayed-auto

Entered this at admin cmd.
BITS appeared in services, but would start with an error2.

That fix is widely recommended and works for most individuals.
The BITS also is in the HKEY Machine register.

I would appreciate your help. I ran Tweak but to no avail.
Regards,
Marvin
