Title: Registry Backup crash / errors on Win10 x64
Post by: dbrisendine on December 29, 2015, 10:57:31 pm
I have been noticing for some time now that there are two Memory Dumps made every day by Registry Backup 'crashing' (I have the utility set to run every day at user logon and make a fresh backup).  The backups are made correctly (if somewhat slowly [VSS seems to be an issue]) but I have been wondering about the dumps.

The following is a error entry from the Application Logs (Event Logs) :

Error: (12/29/2015 05:59:39 PM) (Source: Application Error) (EventID: 1000) (User: )
Description: Faulting application name: TweakingRegistryBackup.exe, version: 3.3.0.1, time stamp: 0x561d25f2
Faulting module name: MSVBVM60.DLL, version: 6.0.98.15, time stamp: 0x49b01fc3
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000c9ba6
Faulting process id: 0x1dec
Faulting application start time: 0xTweakingRegistryBackup.exe0
Faulting application path: TweakingRegistryBackup.exe1
Faulting module path: TweakingRegistryBackup.exe2
Report Id: TweakingRegistryBackup.exe3
Faulting package full name: TweakingRegistryBackup.exe4
Faulting package-relative application ID: TweakingRegistryBackup.exe5

I'm afraid of attaching the dumps as they are 7+ MBs but I would be glad to file share them if that will help.

Thank you and thanks for the great programs!

BlueScreenView will reduce and analyse them for you which you can then post.

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

It could be your AV program is interfering with the process.

Blue_Screen_View does not seem to do anything with the dumps; there are no crashes just the dump files.  Is there any other viewers that can read these files?

The lower part of this article may also work for Win 10 https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/315263

MSVBVM60.DLL is the visual basic 6 runtime file and is part of the OS. So very odd it is crashing, seems like it is crashing when the program is closing itself.

I havent seen it crash on 10 before now, I wonder if MS put out another update that broke something? They seem to be growing a VERY large record of that happening lol
