VERY dissappointed - huge hours WASTED trying to update/repair using
'new + improved 3.5.0.' because of constant
'improvements' that don't work or do anything - yes it's FREE but time wasted
now i can't revert back to 3.4.3 - DISASTER
my xp service pack 3 and your new + improved 3.5.0. are --NOT-- --COMPATIBLE--
it will not get past 'reset permissions'
my computer cannot withstand this punishment of trying to
run repairs for 35+ minutes AND only get to step #4 (repair permissions)
grade = F- (FAIL)
i'm un-installing tweaking.com repairs untill you FIX this
you claim that 3.5.0. 'fixes' bugs and glitches to repair permissions
yet it does THE OPPOSITE
-
Hmmmm do you have the log files and can you post them for me on this thread also if you can look in the event viewer and post the event log that went with the crash this would be some huge help into finding your issues with the Windows repair 3.5.0
-
'ManageACL_32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close'
it will NOT advance - even if i click on 'do not send' a thousand times
it will NOT repair the reset permissions
this is the VERY FIRST INSTANCE of ANY tweaking.com all the way up to
3.4.3 that would not actually do the repair
the 'shane' guy goes to great lengths to tell the whole world
how he has now 'repaired all the reset permissions bugs' but in fact
has RUINED the program
i did manage to do do all the other repairs in 3.5.0.
sending you what 'logs' ?
do i have a facility to send you my 'logs' ?
SHANE needs to FIX the bugs HE invented on 3.5.0. --PERIOD--
for now -
i'm going to see if i accidentally STORED any of the ancient tweaking.com series on a memory stick
3.5.0. is a DISASTER - it claims to work with XP but it only produces this result:
'.... ManageACL_32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close ....'
-
regarding this:
'.... Hmmmm do you have the log files and can you post them for me on this thread also if you can look in the event viewer and post the event log that went with the crash this would be some huge help into finding your issues with the Windows repair 3.5.0 ....''
okay i'm WILLING to TRY but:
1) how do i access and then send to you the 'log files'
2) how do i look in the 'event viewer' and then post the 'event log'
there was never any CRASH just the frickin' first-time-ever ERROR CODE that says:
'ManageACL_32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close'
'....

if you (unfortunately) WERE me and you had waited 35 minutes on step #4 which
is 'reset permissions' then YOU would know something was seriously WRONG
with this new 3.5.0. -- that -- is why i stopped the program
i've run 'check disc' and all that other good stuff
i've used the program in safe mode with networking, etc
i've been running ALL of the tweaking.com com programs for almost 3 years now
i KNOW how LONG they take to run
sometimes even less than 30 minutes
there is a HUGE FLAW with the way 3.5.0. runs on XP
-
okay it's called 'reset service permissions' -- hello it DOES NOT WORK with
XP vs 3.5.0.
how do i know ?
i've been updating my twerking.com program for over THREE YEARS
It does not take 35+ minutes in safe/w/networking to reset service permissions
it just does NOT
-
First off I do my best to help any one who needs it. I test on each version of windows fresh installed in vmware, that includes Windows XP with service pack 3.
If you have a bug or trouble then the thing to do is to come and let me know so i can work with you and fix it, not be a dick and go off on me and my work.
If you had trouble with that one repair then why didn't you just skip it? If the program ManageACL was crashing what was the error number it self? That way I have something to go on instead of someone flying off the handle at me.
You have given me nothing at all to work with on trying to find out why it crashed or took so long. But you did take the time to insult the shit out of me.
Respect and honor are all that matter to me. You have shown neither.

- Try running other repairs first. And then try rerunning all repairs. That helps sometimes.
-
i've been updating my twerking.com program for over THREE YEARS
I know it is wrong, but that just made me smile :cheesy:
For reference, I have run WR 3.5.0 on 2 XP machines for friends and family without problems.
-
there is no 'dicking off'' just a great program that no longer works
it produces a result that no longer works
the fact that you don't allow roll-backs to previous versions is the real
dicking off -- this isn't about your work or your ego trip
it's about you changing your program and leaving people who used it in
the rubbish bin
you and your ego seem to think that's where us little people belong
i don't know what '.. ManageACL_32.exe ...' is and i don't give a frickin' frack either
ALL I KNOW is that i've been using ALL of the twerking.com programs for over 3 years
without ANY incident until NOW with this new/improved 3.5.0. and it produces
error screen after error screen
ANYBODY and any numb-nut can go out and buy a new computer with
windows 10 on it and be a 'genius' -- ANYBODY can do that
YOUR program originally started with the promise of helping the
poor little folk who are stuck in the WINDOWS XP ERA
otherwize why not just REMOVE the promise of windows XP fix-up
the thing that kills me is that
it's all about 'your work'
well - what about OUR work or MY work or HIS work
#1 complaint: allow previous versions like the fantastic 3.4.3. to be available
you've turned into apple/macintosh where anything 'old' is obsolete
that was the promise of windows operating systems and YOU'VE turned your back on that
by not allowing your older restore programs to be accessed
have a great week mr ego trip
-
Okay first off quid pro quo lets stop the insults HERE. Go to you programs folder into the logs and on your thread upload each log file. You've only gave me one log which shows me nothing but you stopiing a repair. Now in you event viewer you should have a crash I want you to upload a picture of the event log . Alt print screen then open up paint and hit ctrl v and that should paste it for you. Now you said you don't care about knowing what manage acl is but frankly I'm gonna tell you what it is it's the program that sets your permissions on registry keys and files . it's good to know what a program does to your computer. Now working on computers can be frustrating at times but keeping a level head is recommended everyone on this forum including Shane is here to HELP we don't just think about Windows 10 user we think of every user! Samson has Windows XP Rick has Windows xp other users here have Windows xp. What I'm trying to say is with out proper communication we can't get you the help you need . I'm still willing to help but need you to focus on willing to accept the help. Now I'll be waiting for those log files and snap shot. If you don't have them recreate the problem you had and then send them. And sending them is easy when making a post there is a attach button and you can browse your hdd and select the file to attach.
-
sorry i don't know how to give you all those results right this second (i'll need beginner's assist)
i think your communication is really superb/professional
i'm down with the quid-pro-quo 'no-insult zone' that you've recommended
i can also be willing to give you the results as you've suggested
let's take them one at a time please
#1) you suggest i go to the 'program folders into the logs'
okay i'm willing to don this for the benefit of everybody who may have discovered
that they are getting this error message starting with 3.5.0. and even beyond
where do i look for this program folder on my computer and how do i upload each file log ?
i was computer-traumatized by the events of last weekend (boo hoo - too bad right)
i did notice that with 3.5.1. i CAN get through the 'reset file permissions ( in repair #3)' by hitting the
'do not send' (to microsoft) and then the repair #3 reset file permissions can proceed
all of the repairs (over 50% of them) that produce the error message can now
MANUALLY be over-ridden (no more 'walk-away-from-computer while repairs proceed)
the error message appears in well over 50% of the repairs but not all of them
i can get through the repairs by selecting the 'do not send' (to microsoft) tab every time the
error message appears
i AM willing to come back to the table if you will instruct me step-by-step HOW to give you the
logs .... consider me as an illiterate windows guy
again, the reason i'm willing to come back to the repairs table is for the benefit of other
users who may also have experienced this post 3.5.0. meltdown on their laptops
of course it is NOT all-about-me -- i know that and am a believer in sharing and working through this
so step by step, as though you were instructing a beginner
how do i:
1) access the programs folder (where is it, etc
2) get into the 'logs'
3) find the thread
4) upload
5) where is the event viewer
also - how do i upload a picture ?
-
- Before doing ANYTHING download the latest version (v3.51) and see how it behaves. It gives you more info at what place the repair gets stuck.
- Perhaps some Services aren't present on your system.
- Uploading files (e.g. pictures): there's a thing called "Attach" under the pane you're writing your next reply. A matter of trial & error.
-
have a great week mr ego trip
No not ego trip, its more the fact that I had not slept for 72 hours.
So let me be the first to apologize, I wouldnt be much of a man if I dont ever admit when I am wrong or over react. When I am that tired from working none stop on the windows repair program and the manageacl it is VERY easy to take typed words wrong since there is no tone of voice to go with it.
For the last month and a half i have done 4 days straight, pass out then another 4 days trying like mad to get SetACL replaced. So while it isnt an excuse, it is the reason for my short temper.
In fact you are the first one I have ever got upset with. Also as I type this I am going on 72 hours straight again.
So as you can see I truly, truly care about my work and what people think. That also means that if there is a problem then you can count that I am going to want to fix it.
So for the ManageACL crashing lets find out first what the error message is, if you go to the event viewer after it happens and you click close it should log what the error message was. That way it will point me in the right direct.
When I made ManageACL I tested i in vmware, fresh install of XP with SP3 already on it and NO updates since SP3. I wanted to make sure it could run on very old xp machines.
So that means there is an unknown variable on your system causing the program to not play nice. Lets find out what it is and get it fixed :-)

thanks for the chill words of support to all
i did that install of 3.5.1. as soon as i sqw it become available
the error box that says '... ManageACL_32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close ...'
still appears on approx 50% of the repairs BUT: with the new 3.5.1. repairs program
i am at least able to manually close the error box
i've done the check disc program repeatedly and continue to do so
next time i have time to run the 3.5.1. or beyond and this stuff happens i'll try to
do what you were asking with the EVENT BOX
and post it here or in a new thread
thank you for the smile face
i'll try to run the program again over the weekend and
post the 1st error message from the event box as you've suggested
i do have a VERY old machine that is continually being updated by microsoft
the machine is HP Pavilion N5425
I've got XP home with service pack 3 & with all the updates that microsoft will allow currently and
will continue until 2019 as it's been reported they will allow
finally, sorry i communicated poorly -- i'm like the 'world's angriest guitar player' on youtube
when i'm running a program that has worked in the past and then doesn't work all of a sudden
it's just me being an adult infant - i apologize for losing my patience on-line
when i get things more settled - i plan on contributing via paypal to your site
i actually am sincere - sorry for the troubles up to now

- Windows Repair produced a number of log files. Add them to your next reply as an attachment.

God that was a long 3 weeks for me. Any luck with WR 3.6.0 and the ManageACL crashes stopping?
