Hi, there was a power failure and when my PC rebooted the main windows like "This PC", computer properties, etc appear in restore mode (not maximized) and file icons all keep returning to list view every time the mentioned windows open. Also some apps in modern start screen can't be launched. This is so sad and a serious bug. Can you help me fix it?

Make sure to drain all the power out of your system first. Pull the power cord out and if it is a laptop to pull the battery. Then when it doesnt have any power you hit the power button a few times, like you are turning the computer on.
When you do all the power will drain out of the system, then once you do that plug the power back in a boot up. Once booted up see how things feel and if they dont feel better you will want to do a chkdsk on the drive to make sure the file system is ok.
The file system could have gotten messed up if it was in the middle of being written to when the power cut out

It didn't work. More serious than you could imagine. Even system restore fails to revert the PC to an earlier date.

If the registry is what got corrupted then recovering from that sint going to be easy unless you where doing registry backups. You might be stuck having to do a repair install.
