What are you using to do the backup?

If it is Windows backup that error means the drive may have bad sectors.

If it does you need to replace it. Do you know how to check for bad sectors?

I myself never use the built in Windows backup. It is to limited. I use and put the free fbackup on my customers computers. There are also some other ones you can use as well.
