Error Code 1117
« on: February 21, 2013, 04:09:28 pm »
Yesterday I went looking for a solution to a problem I got when I tried to backup my system using Reflect and got this error message: "Backup aborted. Unable to read from disk Error Code 1117 The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error"
Google lead me to Tweakingdotcom as a "fix".
I installed your program (love it by the way) however, I'm still getting the same error message . . . This whole thing started because I installed Acronis, then uninstalled it and haven't been able to backup my system since !!! I've been spending hours on forums trying to find the solution . . .
I don't know if you can help me, but thought it was worth a try . .

You normally only get that error if something with the hardware is bad.

First thing to do is a chkdsk on the drive and have it look for bad sectors.

Do you know how to do that?

Thanks Shane.  Yes I have done that . . actually I let your program do it before I ran the repairs . . . but, to be on the safe side, I'll do it again through windows.

The one in my repair tool only does a standard check, it doesnt check for bad sectors. When you do have it check for bad sectors it will take a while, start it, make sure it is going and go watch a movie :-)
