Windows Repair Pro Tweaks Broke my Fast Internet Speed
« on: April 29, 2021, 07:39:27 pm »
I was having a problem with MS apps not running no more, so I found this program (the free version) ran it in safe mode and it fixed the issue. I was so impressed I purchased the PRO features and unlocked and ran them. Now my usual 50-55 MBPS downloads are running between 7-11 MBPS .....this is not good. Any idea on how to resolve this?

Actually it broke my VPN adapter, I use NordVPN and it uses and adapter called NordLynx, when disconnected speed is fine, when connected speed is horrible.

This is a new one for me.

Are you able to reinstall the software for that VPN ?

This article has some steps for dealing with NordVPN - https://support.nordvpn.com/Connectivity/Windows/1107796462/Adjusting-your-operating-system-configuration.htm

However, you can reset your Windows Network adapters with this cmd run from a Command Prompt (Admin) or Powershell (Admin)

netcfg -d

shutdown /r /t 00

Then see if there's any improvement after the reboot.

Thanks for the reply!

Anyhow I had to manually put in some DNS server to the NordLynx Network Adapter settings and it fixed the speed problem. I know it was working when I did a windows repair with the free version, because I was downloading like a champ, then I purchased the pro version and applied the tweaks and all went to hell, even when I un-installed Nord and re-installed. Not sure what the tweaks did but at least I found a work around.

Not sure why there should have been a difference between the free and pro versions as the repairs are the same.

Anyway, glad you were able to resolve.

Which tweaks did you use as you can undo those if they cause problems.

Thanks for detailing your solution, I had the same problem as my downloading and uploading speeds dropped, and it's solved now! Thank you again!

It is definitely helpful, I was stuck, losing time over slow up/download speeds, but your solution allowed me to finish my report about these property prices in France in time, while I would have been largely overdue if there had been no improvement, or if I had to solve the issue without any external help.
