Request Tweak "KeyBoostTime" !
« on: November 15, 2020, 04:18:09 am »
When you run more than one application at the same time, especially with more than one application, you may find that the system responds to your keyboard characters much slower than usual. This may include reveal that a few seconds pass from the moment the key is pressed to the character display. How to remedy this, even on newer and faster machines
I want Tweak: "KeyBoostTime="

Note that in Windows 7, the keyboard setting in the Control Panel does not increase the speed even faster!

These are not rare cases, there are tens of thousands of cases among users and I can't find the perfect solution in Windows 7

Can you increase your installed memory ?

You may be able to free up some memory by reducing the items in your Startup in Task Manager.

I upgraded the computer, increased the amount to 20 GB RAM. But typing speed did not increase. I can see that this problem occurs even on the fastest PC machines.

I already had a dozen computers and the same problem.
I want an instant keyboard response.
There are many tutorials, but all are not for Windows 7

Many options are hidden in the system, and only the user can change them and boost up the response of the keys!
Keyboard speedup should be increased by 500%!

That's how to setup for Windows 7.
I have no idea how to change it.
I'm not an expert.

That article has all of the screenshots I think you would need.

I don't know what you want of me.

Does the keyboard speed increase when you don't have so many applications open ?

This is all I can find on that -

To increase the priority of the foreground application's scanning of the keyboard, add the KeyBoostTime= setting to the [386Enh] section of the SYSTEM.INI file. You can do this with a text editor such as Notepad. The KeyBoostTime default setting is: KeyBoostTime=.001. The recommended value is: KeyBoostTime=.005

The actual website for this no longer exists which would probably have given a fuller explanation.

I have found other websites with similar info but they don't apply to Win 7.

Highlight KeyBoostTime =Value and right click on to select Search with Bing/Google where you will see for yourself.

@angelika: How full is your HD or SSD ? That also can be the cause of a "slow keyboard repsonse".
