Java 8 offline installation XP

Hi I have a old XP laptop that requires Java 8 to be installed for a updated program.
I downloaded the offline application and went to install but the installer won't even open.
Java 7 is loaded, I tried to uninstall, still nothing. Java 7 installs no worries.
Because of age of computer it is used offline.
Please can you help.

It would seem that you need a different method to install Java 8 on XP but read the article - https://stackoverflow.com/questions/44401911/window-xp-and-java-8
