Vista-Windows Update
« on: November 29, 2012, 06:00:25 pm »
I have been trying to update Windows for several months.  I downloaded your software and followed all of the steps...still can't do updates.  Please help...or the computer may go through the front window!

Windows Vista Home Basic
Service Pack 2
32-bit Operating System

Which repairs did you run?

What problem are you having with the windows update?

I run Windows Update and I get the same 5 updates every time (Windows Vista Security Updates and Internet Explorer 9).  I also install Internet Explorer 9 and it gives me the welcome to IE9 window when it opens, but then the update alway reappears.

I ran all 4 steps of the software (I read several other posts in the Forum about people having luck with the tool).  After running all of the steps and restarting the computer, Windows Update came back with all 6 updates (all of the previous plus .net 3.5 update).

Windows update may be working fine. But for some reason something else is not going correctly.

When you did the step 4 where it shows all the repairs did you run all the repairs or only a couple?

If it was only a couple try having it do all the repairs. Also is there any kind of error from these 5 updates?

I am off to bed I will reply in the morning.

Night!

I selected all and ran them all (after turning off the AntiVirus...as suggested).

Are there any errors at all when Windows updates tries to install those last few updates that keep showing up?

Here is a screen shot of the error.  This happens every time, but the computer never asks to restart and I immediately get the New Updates Available icon back in the tray.  I have gone to the Help section and it lists a Fix-It button, but that has never worked (it takes me to a file that my computer does not recognize).

Very odd error.

Normally my repairs fix anything to do with the Windows update. But I dont think it is a problem with Windows update I think the problem is else where.

For now so it wont keep bugging you, when you view the 5 updates that are there right click on them and choose hide.

At least this way it wont keep bugging you

I'm wondering if this could be a problem associated with .net.  I remember that being an error at one point during one of the updates...and I just tried to download the Microsoft Fix It and it says that I need .net 2.0 to download and run the program.

You could use the .net removal tool to get rid of it and then install .net fresh.
