Restore Default User folders?
« on: April 15, 2020, 03:21:10 pm »
Somehow the the default downloads folder is missing in Windows File Explorer. I can see it if I use my other file manager Total Commander.

all my data and downloads are there, just not as far as Windows is concerned.

Should I run common repairs?

I have a picture of the user_shell_folder registry and it has *two* download folders listed. Not sure the easiest way to post a picture here.

Thanks

That isn't something I've come across but if you are using Win 8.1 or Win 10 then open a Command Prompt (Admin) and enter these cmds -

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

sfc /scannow

shutdown /r /t 00

Then see if it reappears where it should be.

If they don't do it then perhaps the Step by Step post in this article may help - https://www.tenforums.com/general-support/74021-downloads-folder-icon-missing.html
