Registry Changes Reverting After Restart
« on: December 07, 2019, 01:29:19 pm »
First, thanks in advance for the help.

I'm attempting to troubleshoot an issue with bluetooth functionality on my Asus Rog laptop.

I've downloaded the Intel drivers and still see the device Exclaimed Out!.  I uninstall the driver and restart and I can see all my devices, woohoo.  When I restart I don't see any devices listed and that old exclaimation point is there again.  When I double click on the device, Windows 10 says there is a corrupted registry entry or other registry issue.

So I decided to try a troubleshooting step where I changed the version of Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion from 6.3 to 6.2.  Unfortunately, after I change the value and restart my changes revert back to version 6.3.  I rad RegEdit in Admin mode.  I'm at a loss.

Any ideas?  Thanks.

Have you tried the Troubleshooter via Start - Settings cog - Update & Security -Troubleshoot then scroll down to and click on Bluetooth.

You may need the device plugged in for the tests.

If that still reports corruption then open a Command Prompt (Admin) and enter these cmds -

dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

sfc /scannow

shutdown /r /t 00

Check Device Manager after the reboot.

While the first three cmds will take some time, let me know if either report anything other than successful and the last one report anything other than no integrity violations found.

If those haven't resolved the problem then you may need to perform a repair install which won't affect your personal stuff or installed programs.
