Serious program errors!
« on: September 23, 2019, 09:25:19 pm »
I had a problem, with my computer (W10 pro+ running latest updates) and decided to try your repair tool.  MyComputer was taking a very long time to open.  Using your program I created a restore point which it said it completed.  I was running in safe mode.

It run for a long time and the end result was not at all what I wanted.

I could no long connect to my NAS storage
My recycle bins on 2 of my drives were corrupted
My administrator password was changed
There were many programs that the system stopped me from running giving me "an adminm hjas prevented me" message.  This is a single user syste; I have admin rights.

When I discovered all of this I decided to restore to an earlier point.  There were no restore points; the program did not create one.
I still am fighting mst of these.  While my computer is connected via a hard line to my router I was only able to fix the NAS connect by installing a wireless connector and running both of them.
I would appreciate help on any of these and think that you should take a close look at why/how all of this happened.

I've also found that the program doesn't create restore points on my Win 10 when it says it has.

As for the rest, I will pass this onto Shane.

I'm not sure if the auto registry back up will restore your machine.

Under Backup Tools click on Restore on the Registry Back up.

Click on Registry Restore then use the dropdown to click on the dated back up then hit Restore now.

It's probably best to do this in Safe Mode.

So what problems are left ?

I've found that these two cmds run from a Command Prompt (Admin) can fix most Win 10 problems.

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

sfc /scannow

exit (to close the cmd window)

If the sfc /scannow still reports corruption after that then the next step would be a repair install which doesn't affect personal stuff or installed programs.
