PC won't power on with any new GPU.
« on: July 30, 2019, 11:43:17 pm »
Got a new system which ran some days with an old HD7970 and bought a new 2070 Super now. Problem is that it won't power on on PCIe Slot 1. It does if I put the GPU in Slot 2 but will give me an VGA error in MSI's EZ Debug LEDs. Tried another older, known working, nVidia card and it is having the same issue as well.

System is as follows:

MSI MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon Ryzen 5 3600 16GB DDR4 3200 Trident Z RAM (2x8Gig) 750W PSU from Seasonic (Focus Plus Gold) old GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD7970 Windforce 3 (8+6pin) new GPU: Palit RTX2070 Super GameRock Premium Edition (8+8pin) old known working: Asus GTX980 (6pin)

As my old card works it can't be the PSU and already tried 2 others as well. Nothing. MoBo has the newest BIOS as well. PSU will produce a clicking sound with one of the nVidia cards if I try to power it on and seems to prevent the system from starting. I'm pretty frustrated right now and tried nearly everything now, including resetting CMOS, switching the cards back and forth and so on. Could it be that the nVidia cards are shortening something?

Does anyone have a clue what's going on with my system?

It may be best if you register on the Geforce Forum https://forums.geforce.com/ or contact Nvidia direct for advice.
