External Hard Drives Not Seen
« on: May 31, 2018, 04:45:19 pm »
I have 3 external hard drives with the identical problem.

Cables, connections & ports are ok, tested with independent device.

Each external HD shows light when powered on.

PC does not "see" drives preventing data entry or retrieval.

TIA

Does an USB Flash drive show up when plugged into any of the ports ?

Can you plug one of the ext. HDDs in then go Start - type diskmgmt.msc and press enter.

You should see the disk showing in there - does it have a drive letter ?

If it doesn't then right click on it and assign it with one and then go into Windows Explorer to check if it shows up there now.

If that was it then the rest will show up when plugged into that port.
