Explorer.exe occasionally crashes
« on: May 25, 2018, 12:41:45 pm »
Explorer.exe occasionally crashes, for example, when closing a folder, when thumbnail images have been displayed.

caused by : oodsh.dll ( oodsh!DllCanUnloadNow+278 )
as O&O Defrag Shell Extension
App: C:\Program Files\OO Software\Defrag\oodsh.dll

How to solve this problem ?

Hi, There is not specific fix for explorer crashing as that it connected to so much things.
I would suggest, you do chkdsk /r first to fix some system file errors at boot;
Then run sfc /scannow to fix any system file corruption errors;
Then try defragging the said volume.
If those are not working, then it is better to resort to System Restore to a previous date.
Probably those thing would fix your problems.
try and then report
The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".

I have removed the  oodsh.dll (DLL Library) from the original installation, so I will not have only available from the context menu, O & O Defrag.
Simply, the file may cause the explorer to crash and this is the application bug. Other solutions will not change anything.
All shells of other programs may cause crashes.
I have no other ideas.
