desktop website icons now .website ..
« on: September 15, 2017, 02:43:24 am »
Hi guys Ive got a friend who has the web shortcuts on his desktop that wont work. When I check it out the file extension is .website instead of the usual .url.
How do i change these back or do I just have to re create them (he has a few so it would be tedious)
Ive tried updating the browsers, changing the default browser, checking in the 'C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned ' to see if I could alter them there. I've also check the file associations and they're as they should be for web links etc.
any ideas??
many thanks
glenn

I've never heard of that.

I keep URLs of websites I may need in a couple of Wordpad docs with a brief description for them so when I want a particular one, I just use the Find function which takes me straight to it.

Its pretty straight forward creating desktop links, but from what i can gather hes made 'pinned' links which are different to a basic .url
 one usually creates.
The thing is he's partially sighted so its easier for him to see a large icon than menu (Favorite) item etc
