Windows Repair All In One Ransomware
« on: August 16, 2017, 07:47:10 pm »
I installed Windows Repair All In One ver. 4.0.3.
When I ran it for the first time Bitdefender 2017 blocked the install with a warning:
from Teeaking.com - Windows repair.lnk
C:\users\<UserName>\appdata\local\temp\_ir_sf-temp_0\irsetup.exe
Targeted folder: c:\users\<UserName>\desktop

What's going on?

It's obviously a False Positive so you will need to white list it.

While I've already updated mine through the program to ver. 4.0.3 I've just download afresh onto the existing install and my Norton Security didn't even blink.

However, there was a time when Norton kicked out WR.exe and even removed the desktop icon and again when after I reinstalled it in Safe Mode with Networking and had restarted back to normal mode.

A phone call to Norton put things right and about a month later, I removed it from the white list and there was no more interference from Norton.

Quite often it can be a buggy update that sees something that resembles a Heuristic in a program and will block it.
