Hi all,
There's no responding when I click the search button in the task bar, or I can't type anything into the search bar in the task bar.
And when I click the edge button, it only flash and disappear.
And... None of the Metro apps can be opened, just no responding after click.

I have tried to use Tweak to fix it but it doesn't work...

Any solution?

Quite often this can be resolved by right clicking in the Taskbar and selecting Task Manager, then under the Processes tab click on Cortana then on End Task - it will auto restart.

Check to see if the Start button works, but if it still doesn't then see if any of the rest of the suggestions in this article will resolve.

Hi Boggin, thank you for your kind advise.
But in this case, the point is that none of the Metro app can be started.
Take edge browser as example, it only flashes once and disappears after I click the edge button.
And some other Metro apps even have no responding at all.
I tried to use powershell to reinstall/restore the Metro apps, but it still doesn't work.

Let's see if this will do it then.

Open Task Manager - File - New Task - type cmd.exe and check the box to run with admin privileges.

When the admin cmd prompt opens, enter these cmds -

dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth

If that reports the volume is repairable then follow that with these cmds -

dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

sfc /scannow

exit

and if they come back clean, see if things work then.

If the sfc /scannow reports it is unable to repair some files then run this cmd  before exit -

findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log > %userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt

This will put an icon onto the desktop which when double clicked on will display the CBS log in Notepad which you can upload and attach to your reply.

Download/run SFCFix.exe which will produce its own report which you can also post and which may fix what sfc /scannow can't.

That needs a current CBS log to work on and as the CBS log can be volatile, it's best to run that straight after the sfc /scannow.

EDIT - Do any other browsers work ?

If none of those have worked including the steps in the first link, then boot up into Safe Mode with Networking where you should get a window from MS with trouble shooting steps which may fix your problem, but to get Internet connectivity in that made, you will have to Ethernet connect.

Appreciate your detailed instruction Boggin.
I tried the steps as you mentioned above, but it seems stucked...
First, for the command "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth", the result is

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.14393.0

Image Version: 10.0.14393.0

[===========================94.9%=======================   ]
Error: 1726

The remote procedure call failed.
The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

And sfc /scannow also doesn't work in my PC, error refer to below,
Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.


I think I would give up fix it but to re-install the windows 10 directly.

I have problems reading through those Dism logs as my eyes tend to glaze over :)

I've had that 1726 error before but found when I did it after a reboot, it worked okay.

The sfc /scannow could be a different problem though.

Boot up Windows - open Windows Explorer - This PC - stick your install disk in then click on it and it will perform a repair install which won't affect your programs or personal stuff, but you may have to fully turn off or uninstall your antivirus program if using a 3rd party one.
