Current Repairs Failing

Here is the message I keep getting
Starting Repairs...
   Started at (5/26/2016 3:37:04 PM)

   Done, but failed, at (5/26/2016 3:37:34 PM)
   Total Repair Time: 00:00:32

The current repair has failed to start 5 times.
Something is keeping the repair from running.

Try running the repairs in Windows Safe Mode. (This will keep 3rd party programs from getting in the way of the repairs)
If the repairs still fail then please post in the Tweaking.com forums for support.

I've tried SFCFix.exe  and SURT...and of course I ran the Pre-Scan, chkdsk, and sfc.

 Hoping someone has some idea's.

What antivirus are you using?

Avira, But it does not load in safe mode

Some antivirus like to run in safe mode at times is why I ask.Hmm just to be on the safe side can you check if avira blocked anything in their logs.

Oh do you have any antimalware software installed.

yes I have Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. I've uninstalled it and my anti virus program. I am still getting the same message as stated above.

Skip the repair thats failing then do the others than try the other repair.

Are you running the repairs as an admin or user?

I skipped the first through the 10th problem to be repaired. Still the same message.

Try running the program in normal mode then check Event Viewer for any time stamped errors for when you get the fail.

Not sure what you mean by Event Viewer. But the log reads the same and repair info is blank.

I was wanting to see what could be blocking the program.

Go Start - type eventvwr and when that comes up in the Start menu, press enter.

When Event Viewer has read the data you will be presented an upper pane with Critical, Errors, Warnings etc. of which have occurred in the last hour, 24hrs etc.

Click on the name Errors then on View All Instances of This Event in the lower right pane.

This will give you a scrollable list of date & time stamped errors with their Event ID Nos.

Clicking on each will produce more details in the lower pane.

For those with the time stamp corresponding to your latest attempt to run WR, click on each and then on Copy/Copy details as text.

Right click in the reply box and select Paste and do this for each one.

Event Viewer is not reporting any errors

Can you go Start - start to type reliability and when View reliability history comes up - press enter.

That can have red crosses, yellow alerts or info ? - or nothing for the dates.

Clicking on one will display the rest in the lower pane.

Don't suppose you could uninstall/reinstall the program to see if that makes any difference ?

With nothing recorded if reliability history has zilch as well, we have absolutely nothing to go on.

Regardless of what you have installed, any 3rd party programs would be isolated in Safe Mode although I think Intel have some things that could continue in Safe Mode.

Can you open Windows Firewall to see if you can add Windows Repair as an exception to see if that is what is blocking ?

I encountered a similar current repair has failed problem and solved it by unchecking the 'backup registry' option in the tab Repairs.

I am trying to solve Windows Update failing on a Vista 32 Home Premium SP2 machine.
Did all the optional tab things, including the registry backup on tab 5 (Windows Repair 3.9.2). Nevertheless I left the then superfluous 'Automatically Do a Registry Backup' option checked and clicked Open Repairs. I noticed I didn't see anything about a registry backup. Did it start, did it succeed, did the process finish?

Then I click Start Repairs and after the memory check the repair job notified 4 times a 'current repair has failed' (without mentioning what is was actually currently repairing).

The first Repair task is something with the registry (reset permissions). I noticed a registry backup process was still running. Could this be the 'Automatically Do a Registry Backup' process? I unchecked the option in the Repairs tab, exited Windows Repairs and did a reboot in Safe mode.
(Note: Windows Repair doesn't boot in Safe Mode but in Safe Mode with Networking. Is it supposed to do that?)

I started Repairs again (with backup registry still unchecked) and everything went smoothly.

(I don't know yet if Windows Update has been repaired.)

- If you want to see whether or not "Tweaking's Backup" is working, open Task Manager, let it see all processes of all users, and watch the list of processes.
- A failing Windows Update can be fixed (for both Win 7 & Vista) by installing another update. You're not the only one who's complaining. I assume WU causes a high CPU and fails to find anything for hours ?
